Game Thread Spurs (32-15) @ Hornets (21-28) (Sat 1/31/26) [11:00AM CST]

They have the ability to beat anybody on any given day, but also lose to anybody on any given day. A lot of that does come down to coaching we don’t have a set game plan with the rotations at all.

No arguments there, and players deserve some blame as well but it is frustrating how it is starting to feel we have our record in spite of our coach and not because.

To me this is huge marker against this team. Middling and bad Teams on B2B or less rest are now showing up and jumping on them from the start. What's the issue here? urgency? gameplan? How can a young team that has proven nothing be this cavalier in the regular season?

Not only that but after the Houston game they talked about not getting punked and being too casual. Just wtf

Spurs fall to the 3-Seed with today's loss.

Minnesota and Portland are the only two teams with either the same or worse record in their last 10 games. Minnesota has won three in a row, though, so they're on the up. I think I misspoke earlier. Spurs are playing more like a 9th seed than 7th or 8th. Spurs are on a big slide with no consistent form whatsoever. They've tried to get cute all season with the minutes restrictions, playing Fox out of position, continuing to play Castle at PG when it's now having diminishing returns, having Harper on a minutes restriction for who-the-f#$k knows why.

Then you've got personnel decisions. Why did they not waive Bismack when he looks completely done? Why did they not let Lindy go and give a proper contract to DJG? Speaking of DJG, is there still no news? Hopefully the Spurs didn't fucking end his career as I am sure he chose to stay with the Spurs organization instead of signing elsewhere (I still hope the injury isn't serious), and they can't be assed to say anything about it now.

I am afraid, and I so hope to be wrong about this, it starts with their best player who seemingly has trouble keeping intensity, focus, and competitive desire for long stretches (in-game and for large chunk of consecutive games).. Wemby would just-needlessly and over the top-- get up for Chet and then proceed to get punked by some random scrub while looking disinterested the next night..

Wemby appears to be the anti-thesis of Groundhog Day Duncan..

Do you guys think Victor watches a lot of game film on his opponents? I don't think he does as he seems to get punked by some pretty average players. I think he just expects to go out there and outplay them on talent alone.

tbh, not liking his attitude/body language as of late..

Right now that's true.. He was all fire and passion against the Rockets.. Today he looked like he wanted to go back to the Hotel for a nap..

I think he's fine but i personally expected him to be a better player by now..There is thread here and you would see virtually everyone was penciling in a 28/12/4/4 season for him. I think he will fall short of that and i don't think minutes restriction is the main reason for that. A bit of stagnation has set in across the board in his game save for a tease game here and there (like Dallas opening).

:st-lol: just trying to look for a bright side. Hornets playing like this helps the chances of Atlanta falling out of the play-in while I've been pretty vocal about this team falling into the play-in and getting raped by Curry and Nephew/Harden.
Folks pretending this is fluke or passing malaise when it's been 5 weeks of this stinky play: big win/lay an egg/big win/ lay an egg :st-lol: . Maybe that's just who they really are.

And tomorrow need to win a back to back with the Magic with OKC on the horizon..

missed this game, so this team got down by almost 20 points again eh

almost made a comeback but came up short

I'll cut Wemby a break on the stats because his min are still under 30 per game. Most of the elite stars are 33-36 right in there per game.. So 24/11 in 29 min in great on paper.. He would be right around 28/12 with another 4 min..

It has always felt like that, like any time the Spurs win it's because of overwhelming talent as opposed to a sound gameplan.
