Game Thread Spurs (32-15) @ Hornets (21-28) (Sat 1/31/26) [11:00AM CST]

Why the fuck are the Spurs so addicted to firing up bad shots for the 2 for 1 when it's too late to actually get the second shot? How many times do you see them fire a retard three and the other team gets the rebound with 26 seconds left? So great, fire up one retard shot so you can fire another up from halfcourt? Or in this case another desperation three after advancing the ball to halfcourt? Mitch what the fuck this is your job to get the team to not constantly do stupid shit like this.
The worse thing is when they try the 2 for 1 with a rushed shot with 27-30 seconds on the clock, but then shoot it too early at the end of the quarter and give up a shot on the other end anyway, making it a 2 for 2.

Charlotte been playing like a team that knows it's time to stop tanking and actually start doing something

But the spurs had what it took to win, but when your 2 best players aren't really in it... Hornets styled on em.

It is ridiculous to think this team isn’t closer to a first round exit. Horrible
Coaching and horrible outside shooting.
They have the ability to beat anybody on any given day, but also lose to anybody on any given day. A lot of that does come down to coaching we don’t have a set game plan with the rotations at all.

It’s Dylan Harper, but he’s only allowed to play 20 minutes a game apparently
Yeah, Mitch went away from him when he was having the game of his life and really the only reason the Spurs hung around

I'm not as hard on Johnson as most here, but bonehead stuff right there

The Hornets are playing far better recently than their record would indicate, like the Clippers.

No loss is good but this one wasn't terrible. Kept it close to the end against a red hot team. Nowhere near as bad as the Pelicans loss.

Hornets are literally the hottest team in the league right now lol. They've won 6 in a row and 8 of their last 10 now. And they're #1 in the league in Offensive Rating. That doesn't excuse this loss though. Wemby and Fox both sucking today cost us this game.
barely made 100 this superhot team

The Spurs have shown with this game they're not the number 2 team in the west. They've been playing like the 7th or 8th seeded team.
I mean, they're not as good as OKC or Denver, but they're not worse than all the other teams in the mix in the West. They just won in Houston who's supposed to be better than the others.

How can you not give D-Harp more confidence by playing him when he's playing well and on his game? I hope this doesn't fuck with his confidence.

I had this as a scheduled L especially Hornets are playing well. But the way we lost is just infruriating. Our 2 best players offer no consistency on the offensive end of the ball.
If they played bettter today it probably wouldn’t be L so somebody had to fuck it up to loose. They were no show and Mitch after one good game went back to being mediocre. And to be honest his revolutionary brilliant idea of ignoring Thompson and guarding him by Vic wasn't even his at all, it has been done already by other teams.

I know they're not (if you read what I said earlier today, I said only OKC and Denver are a cut above), but if you've also read what I've been saying prior to the Rockets game, based on form these past 4 weeks (when compared to all of the other teams in the WC top 10), they're definitely 7th or 8th (as far as play and form goes).

They’ve beaten OKC, LAL, DEN and now SAS in December. Not debatable, factual.

Here I am giving credit to Mitch for sitting guys that are struggling and there he goes and pulls a pop by sitting Harper for god knows why, infuriating.

And telling Victor to chuck if from half court after they win the tip. Or that was Victor playing hero ball ignoring the amazing play call. Ugh..

20 pts, very efficient scoring, should have been in the game in the last 5 min. Inexcusable for Mitch to lose sight of his best guys on any given night so damn often. He needs to adjust
top tier D as well

You said that earlier and I overlooked it because I thought you were being sarcastic but do you ACTUALLY think Mitch just told Wemby to take that shot??? I can answer that for you now.. No.

he's been doing this the whole year tbh

That snow storm in Charlotte just hit here in Durham.

It's going cray cray.

I'm just glad I already walked my dog.
Tonight is going to be brutal though.

No, he didn’t. He either had no play call or Victor was playing hero ball. they basically had a time out. There had to be something drawn up. One would hope.

Really really disheartening for players like Dylan Harper, castle etc

Wemby has to have that maturity by now, its a team game and when you have a bad shooting night, you can still contribute to team’s wins in other ways.

Media is giving all the spotlight to him despite him being ass lot of times. Even when he was on way to one of worst starts 2 days back against HOU, its KJ and castle got them into the game…Then he fed on that and played really well… Its team effort. Still he gained all media attention… if i am Wemby’s teammate i would call him out for that shot..

Pop would be in his ass about taking that shot. Mitch to me looks like he has no fire or passion. These guys are running rough shot over him.

Extremely alarming how this team is showing in up to games and losing with rest advantage against mediocre opponents.
To me this is huge marker against this team. Middling and bad Teams on B2B or less rest are now showing up and jumping on them from the start. What's the issue here? urgency? gameplan? How can a young team that has proven nothing be this cavalier in the regular season?

5 straight losses in Charlotte..Disgraceful stuff for this franchise
