Game Thread Spurs (3-0) vs Raptors (1-2) (Mon 10/27/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

Miami and Phoenix are both winnable games. Hopefully, someone.....anyone... is back by Thursday. Wemby might take the Ware matchup personally this time. If so, look out. No telling how the cookie crumbles w/out Rozier. My main hope is we are close to full strength by the time we play Houston and make that a statement game.

I cannot wait to see what a fully healthy Spurs can do, Hornet and Fox will solve a lot of issues we have seen last two games... Hopefully Sochan will also help the team eventhough I have my doubts

the Hornet and the Fox returning ... nice

Didn't the Spurs start off with something like 3-1 in Victor's first year before losing dozens of games in a row? Records don't matter. In interviews, Victor seemed surprised to hear that the Big Three era had never started with such a statistic. You get the feeling that the team is capable of both the worst and the best. This is typical from talented young teams (or teams with a French players).

It is just not the 4/0 but the fact the Spurs are the best defense in the nba and it is no fluke, the fact that we have a number 2 pick who is not your typical young talented dude has the poise and attitude of a vet and above all the fact Spurs achieved that without their second best player and some key role players in particular Hornet last 2 games. Spurs can obviously fall back on earth BUT we overact when the team has a rough stretch, we can also overact when the team is doing well. Last but not least Victor is playing like a top 3-4

I'm very much a believer of not counting your chickens before they hatch and jinxes, so all I will say is spurs are about to go on a 7 game losing streak I estimate in the next couple of months. book it. Also the heat are a team the spurs should easily manhandle. Count the spurs to pull a cowboys and lay a goose egg thursday.

Unreal.

But look at the bright side -- you'll be able to get NBA Finals tickets for 10 bucks!
What’s the actual deal here? Based on what you see on TV the crowd generally looks like a collection of school field trips. It looks like tickets are already $10 and still nobody is showing up.

I assume:

1) bathrooms and concessions are terribly designed in an old arena so you get delays and empty seats at the beginning of each quarter

2) the season ticket holders in the lower bowl checked out on this team a while ago and have been keeping the tickets anyway, because they’re relatively cheap and might be re-sellable later.

…the thing I don’t get is why there’s no huge stub hub market for those empty seats. There are enough people in the area that should be making Vic destination viewing. Seems like the people of San Antonio might not be super into basketball.

Pretty sure Victor does.
Jesus Christ.

League MVP is something you coincidentally get while working your ass off to play for a championship. It's not something you should start forcing hero ball in game 4 of the season.

If Wemby really believes winning a league MVP then getting bounced from the playoffs is better than not winning it and winning the title then we're fucked. Good thing is I believe the odds of that are practically zero.

I don't know why this skin dude is so obsessed with it, but he's fast tracking me to have to dig into the layout here to find the ignore feature

Who said he is? I have yet to see a single shot from Vic this season that actually looks like "hero-balling". His shot selection, especially in light of his past seasons, has been pretty much pristine this year.

It's a good belief of yours, because again, absolutely zero indication to this hypothetical whatsoever.

However, OTOH, I don't see why you (and others) are so averse to the idea that Wemby might just care about winning the NBA MVP. It's a legendary and historical achievement, one of the highest accolades to be won in the league -- why shouldn't he care, only because there's higher prizes to be had (that he can also win, pretty much by doing exactly the same that wins him the MVP itself)?

Let young players be motivated by whatever gets their clocks ticking; he's clearly putting in the good already.

I never understood jinxes. So out of the millions of fans who watch the Spurs you believe your actions somehow have magical powers over the team's performance? And no other fans do?

Talk about a self centered, delusional god complex 😂

Now if you believe every fan has this magical power, then what you do doesn't matter because it'll be canceled out by millions of other people anyway. Like voting.

You would have to connect to the millions of other people through the ether like Nandor the Relentless. Then coordinate when to collectively use your magical jinx powers for good.

Im sorry, not trying to pick on you. The whole thing is just so nonsensical I can't help but make fun of it

Tim was one Ray Allen 3-point shot away from tying Jordan for 6-0 in the finals and then this would be a completely different conversation. Meanwhile LeBron only got 4 rings with one of them being the flukiest in NBA history.
he was also a Robert Horry 3-point shot away from choking away game 5 of the 2005 finals which we'd probably lose but not for that game

a lot of big shots decide a lot of big games, its part of the deal

I know you missed it, but that skin20 or whatever poster keeps on and on about how terrible it was Wemby only got 10 shots yesterday in a blowout win because it will hurt his MVP chances. I'm just ragging on how ridiculous that thought process is for any player who gives any damn about playing team ball and winning titles.

Also, you don't win MVP by hero balling in blowouts. You win it by having a ton of team wins and being the best player consistently throughout the season. No one says he shouldn't care about winning one, but not at the expense of team goals. That's why I said it's an award you win on the way to championships.

Why anyone would value a beauty pagent award voted on by media over earned championships is beyond me. But some goober fans do.

I seriously doubt many players do. Ask Dirk whether he values the 2006 season or the 2011 season the most. What do you think his answer would be?

Yes they started 3-1 then went on to a 17 game losing streak i think, with the first one was against the raptors. Lmao

8 FGA for a superstar/ franchise player is too low.

There was one play in the 1st quarter last night where Castle whipped an easy lob to Vic over to champ who was open for a corner 3. He hit it. So all’s well that ends well I suppose but it was a brain dead move from castle. For some reason in the first half, they just kept missing him or decided to do DIY shot creation. And it all happened to work for whatever reason and we wound up with 41. But it was pretty weird to watch.

This. I want victor to the win mvp but its doesnt mean idont want them to win the championship.lmao. Duncan won the MVP and chapionahip at the same time. Most alltime greats like jordan, lebron, magic, bird, kareem and even duncan won multiple MVP’s and championships.
