Game Thread Spurs (3-0) vs Raptors (1-2) (Mon 10/27/25) [7:00 PM CDT]

The Raps did run Atlanta off the floor opening night and looked pretty dynamic in doing so. If we bring our Nets-level effort from yesterday it could actually be ugly. They have a lot of talent and many expect them to make the playoffs outright (no play-in needed).
there are still legit questions about how their pieces fit but they do have a number of solid pieces. im still not sure what they are trying to build there because they dont really seem to have a title ceiling unless Barnes makes some massive leap... but for now they are a pretty solid club

CMB (Collin Murray-Boyles) is one to watch, too. He sucked last night as he missed a few games due to injury but he is an interesting player, being billed as the next Draymond lol.

Carter Bryant and CMB worked out a bit together this off season too based on some youtube videos.

Assuming Fox's hamstring strain was grade 2 (safe to say as grade 3 would've had a much longer timetable), we are now at 12-13 weeks since it occurred (reported to have happened in late July) with a recovery time for athletes typically recommended to be 6-8 weeks. We are so far into "abundance of caution" territory that it has almost doubled the expected recovery time. Not an opinion or anything, just some data. I can see both sides of the "let him play" argument vs the "its October, settle down and be sure he's good" argument.
every hamstring strain is different. the way they made it sound it was purely muscular but if there was any tendon avulsion/myotendinous injury (there’s nuance to hamstring injury grading past grade 1/2/3 but the framework still holds) then I can see why they’re so cautious.

CMB is the best "next draymond" since Jarace Walker and Jeremy Sochan

Yea, Biyombo was an excellent gunner for our tank last year, got Harper out of it somehow so I can't be too mad. But when I saw him get signed again late summer it was a headscratcher. He's the ugly girlfriend you break up with when you pass the bar exam.

Ryan Kalkbrenner was available in the 2nd round, could've packaged some of our future 4 million 2nd rounders to snag him for cheap and then pay him cheap. Biyombo just hemorrhages points these days. Seeing our 2nd unit have to play at such a blatant handicap just sucks.
Watching Biyombo fumble around yesterday made me want Potter back and on the team instead. At least Potter has a 3.

Hope tonight's game plan involves unsticking the production of Barnes and Champ. It they get their ship's righted, we'll be on our way.
Champ maybe but father times done dragged Barnes body into his trophy room and hung it on the wall tbh. It's over for him.

Need a redeem game from Barnes, we know he's never gonna be a great defender but at least please make your threes man. Champagnie had a horrible game vs the Pels but he redeemed himself against the Nets (3/4), overall shooting 41.6% from 3 this season. But Barnes is currently shooting 18.2% over these 3 games.

C'mon bro it's time, you know you can do better than that.

Hopefully bryant can get sum more playing time.Barnes may be done. Not sure if bryant would be
any worse then what barnes has.

Take it slow I say.. Hamstring injuries are scary.. They re-occur easy..
Tell me about, I`ve been dealing with this shit for like 5 months, because I did not shut it down for the summer. I gave it 3 weeks, but now I am in 2nd week of 6 to heal. Fkn bullshit

Yeah, we're gonna need to start relying on our depth more soon if the winning is to continue. Get those injured people healthy asap.

Interesting stat.
Wemby in top 5 at FG attempts at the rim. Not surprise at least this year. , Guest who is there in top 5 as well with him, Greek freak, Zion and AD?

Whew, glad to read that Wemby isn't out! Going to see it live and I'd be pissed if he was sat. Always a gamble with a B2B.
Yeah, some of the bloggers on X were insinuating that Mitch might sit Wemby. I saw no reason to sit him so early in the season. Korndog being out probably made the Spurs more leery of doing so.

Let's be real our frontcourt is decimated right now outside of Victor. I'm not worried for him against Poeltl but their best players are big wings (Scotty Barnes, Brandon Ingram) which we don't have many solutions against and which we struggled against versus the Pels. Harrison certainly isn't going to stop them...

Can't afford to have Wemby in foul trouble today. Hope he is cautious regarding that.

Raptors are probably better than 1-2. They should be pretty motivated and our lack of big depth is a problem.

I think with the prevalence of guys having hammy issues and returning only to end up tearing their Achilles, Spurs are being extra cautious with Fox which is probably a good idea
Wasn't that calf injuries? I'm pretty sure if was calf injuries and players returning early from that and tearing their Achilles. That's what Jeremy had (calf strain I think), so that is why they sat him out.

With hamstrings, I think it's more if you don't let it heal properly, it can bother you the whole season/linger all season, so it's important for Fox to get it right as we need him for the whole season.
