Game Thread Spurs (27-13) vs Bucks (17-23) (Thu 1/15/26) [7:00PM CST]

In 9 games since Giannis returned, they're 5-4 which doesn't look that bad, but their wins were against the Bulls, Hornets x2, Kings and Lakers.
They lost against the Wizards, Warriors, hospital Nuggets and Timberwolves without Edwards/Gobert.

Rollins/KPJ/AJ Green/Giannis/Turner with Gary Harris, GTJ, Kuzma and Portis off the bench.

Need to get this one, well these next 3 at home. I don't think the boys are to rattled bout the OKC lost but with 2-6 so congested these 3 wins are much needed to keep pace in the west.

Bucks coming off losing to the Wolves by 700 PTS.. You got Giannis you always have a chance but this Bucks team I think on the verge of quitting.. Feels like a must win..

An important win. Both teams will be very motivated. Since we have a day or so, can someone tell me how long the experiment with Fox not playing point until the last few minutes in tight games been happening. I remember Castle doing much better in the 2 or 3 role, but is it my imagination?

As I noted in the GS thread, the Bucks are 2nd in the NBA in 3PT shooting at nearly 40% on the season as a team. Spurs tend to leave guys wide open from 3. This is a sneaky trap game tbh. Hope we can Geta bounce-back dub.

Since November 1st, they have 3 wins against over .500 teams.
If we lose this one, players shouldn't be allowed to go home, but sleep in the arena and put up a 1000 shots each before the Timberwolves game.

Mitch got inspired by everyone on BaselineBums calling Castle a point guard.

Hey Mitch... Castle is a 3.

My peasant take is that what we need to do is really simple.
Fox is a way better creator and can create an advantage easier from a standstill because of his mid-range and even 3pt shooting when he gets hot.
Castle is hard to stop when he gets the ball in a good position after a few passes have already been swung and the defense is shifted.
It shouldn't be that hard to incorporate.

And I'll say it again, Castle's workload is way too high.
How many other players in the league always defend the best perimeter player and are also tasked with bringing the ball up and initiating the sets themselves?

I agree. In the bigger picture, I don't think the problem is Fox or Castle. I think it is with how we are using them. I absolutely think Fox/Castle/Shooter/Shooter/Wemby can work at a very high level *IF* Fox and Castle are properly deployed (which we are not doing now - and it doesn't help that Shooter/Shooter aren't shooting/shooting very well at the moment aside from Champ)

Yep and as other people have stated Castle is an excellent cutter so we should be Fox as primary having Castle do secondary and also cut etc I do liek some of the dribble hand offs but they need to expand the offense past the dho plays

or run a DHO with Wemby/Fox. Not sure that has happened yet. Somebody should get Mitch Mike Brown's Sacramento playbook.
