yeah if only they had beaten the kings, pelicans x2, depleted grizzlies, bulls without giddey, mavs with point flagg, and the nets, we'd know theyve been battle tested

I really like most of the recent moves the Hawks have made, but the real test is going to be what they do with Trae. Their switching defense has been top notch in the last 10 games (where they're 8-2) but once Trae returns, that approach has a major hole in it.

You people. Atlanta’s net rating is 2.8, 13 th in the NBA. SA’s is 6.9, 4th in the NBA. They are doing exactly what they did last year, just scraping by in a shit conference, and you people are falling for it for a second straight year, putting them on a level with this year’s Spurs.
 
Hawks SOS isn't very impressive either, though they have beaten the Lakers and Suns, two things the Spurs can't say.
 
I've got to wonder if Trae Young has any introspection whatsoever in regards to his team playing significantly better since his injury. If the Atlanta Hawks aren't actively trying to move him for whatever respectable assets (players or draft capital) they can find then they are dropping the ball.

The Hawks offense is basically flat (116 pts per100 possessions) with him on or off and the defense is better by 15 points (125 on/110 off) and we're quickly exiting small sample territory.

it really isnt... but theyve also been playing short handed. i dont think they're worldbeaters but im not ready to write them off as a scrub team. JJ and OO are playing remarkably well for them. Daniels and Risacher havent really been particularly good either and they're still collecting wins.

Yeah, I’m wondering if they shouldn’t just offload him, rather than pay him next year or see him walk.

Yep. I see we are favored by 1.5, but that surprises me. I think of our respective shorthanded teams, theirs is the better one right now because the impact of our missing guys (Wemby, Castle, Harper) is significantly larger than the impact of theirs (missing Trae is a positive impact for them). If Tingus and Risacher play, I expect them to win fairly handedly. OO and Tingus will dominate the boards against us.

And two assets that helped land Fox. I’m not sure Spurs send their 2027 out if they didn’t have Atlanta’s pick too (which they’re betting will be the better pick).

Oh and don’t forget Spurs legend Danilo Gallinari.

If I'm a Hawks fan my brain is in overdrive engineering Trae Trades from now until it happens, and I think there are plenty of rich trading possibilities with teams like the Rockets, Timberwolves, Suns, Mavs, Kings, Celtics (if they can avoid apron penalties), Magic, and Bucks. ... Trae, Hornets 2026#1, Plus?? for Giannis. Who says no?
 
Hawks are way better without Trae.

I see a loss. We need Fox to carry, but he can barely carry a small bunch of bananas.
 
Statement game for the shorthanded Spurs. Big implications for a November game.

Can Fox remember he's a star player who's able to drop 60 points in an NBA game tonight? Time will tell!
