Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 4: Spurs @ Blazers (2-1) (Sun 04/26/2026) [2:30 CDT]

Reaction doesn't really register for me, I think most players would have reacted that way and I think most fans would find it disrespectful if it happened to their guy.

Still love Steph's alpha dog attitude out there, because he's my guy, and he came to crush hopes and dreams.

Only downside is he may have a little more attention on him in future games.

I mean, I don’t blame Deni at all for getting upset at that. I think the majority of players in the league wouldn’t just let a dude stick the ball right in their chest after an and-1 :st-lol:

It was funny and I’m fine with Castle doing that since we had already started to pull away at that point, but I think people are being a little crazy for acting like Deni was in the wrong for giving him a pretty minor shove after that.

got damn, that was the Fox game i wanted in game 3

he was able to take advantage whenever Camara was off him and he shot the ball straight this game

another stellar second half from the Spurs, their intensity picked up and was suffocating, Wemby was just dominant on that end. Generational impact

rotations were on point, they closed hard on the shooters they were supposed to and nothing was easy in the paint

I'm fine with how everything went down.

Steph was letting out some frustration and riding a wave of emotion after helping to put the finishing touches on a big comeback. You can tell he's not happy about the physicality and how it's being reffed, and he let out some steam and showed he ain't gonna be bullied.

Double-tech seemed fair, move on to the next game.

I am a little bit worried about some carryover from that altercation with Steph. Taking some cheap shots, knowing they are going to get eliminated.
Personally, at the time, I didn't like it, but can't play soft. They were fouling and being physical in the first half, and like I said, the one time the foul merchant got one put over on him, he loses his cool. He's got no room to complain about foul calls or feel slighted about them. F that. Yeah, Castle put the ball in his chest, but don't complain after you were fouling Steph and then finally get called for one.

I wonder what will be Splitter's fate after their season end. He has done a very nice job with that team.

I hope he can be a head coach still, though I want him to move to the East.

The new owner is making news as an incredible cheapskate. Apparently he's low balled Splitter and probably will any other hire.

Would be shocked if he's back tbh.

Damn, sorry I couldn't watch this one live. When I saw them in person in Austin, I had the sense that this team can put it together quickly and just blow another team away in 2-3 mins. That's a Jordan/Bulls Showtime/Lakers kind of level. Still so much growth to come, but, they are gifted and are turning defense into offense. I have no doubt that they will close it out Tuesday and the next round will be a very different type of challenge. It's also great to see what Fox can do when at his best. We need more of that from him.

What was going on when Portland had such a big lead? Were we not physical enough? Not making shots?

hes getting death threats, etc, following his interaction with Deni

probably a good idea to tread lightly when discussing here for obvious reasons
Ahh - so just to be clear: we’re talking about the comments being left on Castle’s instagram. I thought he meant that Castle himself made interesting comments on instagram.

Oh I misread and thought he was saying Castle was leaving comments

Castle’s Instagram comments are interesting. I’ll leave it at that.

I do not want Castle to put the ball in Deni's chest like that at all. Strategic composure is part of the game. Maybe an unpopular opinion but... That's not who we are :st-popemote:

Do not give them an opportunity to draw you into scuffles with potential suspensions. DEN just attempted this last night so it should've been fresh in everyone's mind.

It worked out okay and I think Deni has anger issues anyway. Not defending Deni at all. He talks about respect but he's calling Castle a pussy ass bitch, you can read his lips on the slow mo replay. It's also kinda delusional, like when Jaylen Brown crashed out on Spurs back in the regular season where players think they are special and how dare refs or opponents not show a certain level of "respect".

Yeah, I mean in isolation is was disrespectful a hell. But in the context of the fuller series where Steph is doing his best on foul-baiter, not getting a whistle on the other end, and getting hammered on that very play— I get why it happened too.
