Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 1: Spurs vs Blazers (0-0) (Sun 04/19/2026) [8:00 CDT]

accurate tbh.
tho, i can never forget that manu dunk that seemed to just suck the souls out of the heat. can't remember which game that was, maybe 5?
also, wasn't that the year that cojo had that nasty dunk against OKC in a loss? shit put hair on my chest
Manu dunk on Bosh was game 5 yup euphoric tbh

It was game 5 tbh, and that CoJo dunk arguably changed the series. Spurs showed no fear against Abaka the rest of that series.

Somehow Bonner was able to neutralize Abaka and they had no answer for Boris

Pop at his peak putting Boris into the starting 5 tbh

Nephew's steal/block on Westbrick on the closing seconds...

Timmy's turnaround jump hook that will almost definitely get stolen by Westbrick if he was half a second late in his turnaround move

Timmy hugging Manu after he hit a clutch 3 in game 6....

Amazing series tbh 2014 WCF

Honestly my favorite non-title winning series win as a Spurs fan tbh. Sweeping the Grizz in 2013 and beating the Rockets in 2017 are close though.

It’s perfect
I disagree. :D
I don't think we need regular season records, that's done now.
And it reads [Game Thread] Playoff Game Thread, don't like that.

I'd say something like:
First Round, G1: Spurs vs Blazers (0-0) (Sun 04/19/2026) [8:00 CDT]

As far as the matchup goes, Blazers don't have the firepower and unless we're playing terribly this shouldn't take more than 5 games.

I have quite a few favourite non-title winning series...

- The 3 series against Nash led Suns were epic. 2005 WCF, 2007 2nd round, 2008 1st round
- Beating 3peat Lakers in the 2nd round in 2003

Spurs owning the Suns was a given for me back then tbh. I was also younger back then and didn't feel as vindicated when the Spurs won those series, though that 08 series when Duncan hit the game-winning three was the first time I was ever hyped after a non-championship winning game (other than game 5 in 05). Beating the Mavs in 2010 game 6 was up there too.

One fave memory was sweeping the MEM Grizz in 2013 WCF. They were a hot team then with a strong core but they had no answer for us especially Tony Parker just smoked them averaging 24/9 on the series. That was a stretch where Tony was playing nearly year round for France in the Spurs offseason and his game was so elite through 2013.

Obviously we will see the Memorial Day Miracle A LOT the following days.

Love you Sean!

Ahh, the playoffs... how I've missed you. Can't fucking wait to see what Wemby and the boys have in store for us.

Much better matchup than the Suns tbh. Assuming everyone is/stays healthy for both sides this should be a 5 game series. Castle vs Avdija will be the key matchup with the Guests' lack of consistent secondary creation unless Holiday turns back the clock. Fox has also thrived in this matchup even with Portland's dearth of bigger defenders (we'll see if that holds). Spurs need to go at Avdija on offense as much as possible to tire him out by clutch time. This will also be a series for CB to get his footing.
As in, the key is for that matchup to never happen
:st-lol:

Don’t want to underestimate them but there’s really no reason this should go beyond 5 games. Let everyone get their playoff jitters out and let’s take care of business.

Containing this guy will obviously be the key to this series. He's the engine to their offense. As mentioned on the previous page, we didn't have Wemby in any of those first 3 matchups this season. Deni's game revolves around his ability to get to the rim (and draw contact to get to the foul line), so hopefully Wemby can stifle him a bit and turn him primarily into a jump-shooter.

Portland can hit a lot of 3's in a hurry, like Phoenix found out, need to be sharp on the perimeter.

And he gets a lot of whistles. Hopefully, against us he shoots FTs the way he did in the play-in game vs the Suns.
