He is so important to the team

I don't understand how we can't have a rim protector as the 3rd center instead of Biyambo.
Just someone that is good defensively even if he brings only screen on offense

We are too dependant to kornet right now

Because believe it or not there aren't that many good rim protectors out there.
Why would one of the competent ones accept a third stringer role when they can easily get 20mpg elsewhere. Or even a starting role with teams like Celtics or Pacers that lost their rim protectors?
 
korndog has a nice 3 point stoke. He used to hit a lot before playing for the celtics

That was my most commonly quoted "bad take".. It just happens I understand basketball better, and you guys need more evidence before you notice things. I will give you credit though for not going down with the ship though, you guys (i don't mean you specifically) do eventually come around.

Bismack really fell off a cliff this year. He was actually more than decent as a rebounder (3rd behind Bassey and Wemby), rim protector (again 3rd behind those two, 14th in the league for anyone with more than 15MPG and 10 games played), and screen setting last year (1st on team, 16th in the league in screen assists). This year he has been absolutely abysmal.

I meant a decent rim protector, not a great one. Someone opposing team would at least consider a little.

A 7 footer, that could shoot 65% free throw to not be hacked, could set screen. And would never touch the ball

i'm sure that was a profile available in this 2025 early second round pick that we sold for cash consideration
 
Kornhub is now 6th in the league in screen assists at 3.7 and 5th in screen assist points (9) in the league. He's also 17th in the league in offensive loose ball recovered, and tied with Wemby at 8th in 2pt shots contested. All the hustle stats are there.

Yep, we turned two end-of-bench guards (of which we had way too many) for a spot rotation PF (of which we have none). Was purely a deep bench move, not intended to be a major rotation changer.
 
Maybe korndog is what we call a late bloomer? Maybe (he will) he comes back to earth. Just an enormous asset for the team. Small sample size, but the value is obvious. The risk in our position in free agency is justified. Time will tell if the korndog eats, but great relative risk for this team.

He definitely is a late bloomer but he had been very good on the Celtics for a couple of years. Underlying metrics had been quite good. He was just buried behind KP and Horford, but typically played well when one or both of them were hurt

Yeah, good point. His years and salary seem shocking as I adjust to the new CBA. I understand your point, and I think we are both confirming a non-headline but big impact move by the FO. Lit a candle to my will perdue statue that he stays healthy.

yeah 10 mil/year used to be "solid starter" money. its what danny green got from us after we won a chip and wanted to secure him. for reference, that was about 14-15% of the cap back then. kornet's deal has him making about 7% of the cap this year, so its basically half of what green was getting.

at that time, diaw as the 6th man was getting paid 10% of the cap, so its even less than that

Kornet is actually better than KP.

It looks like point 2 is the sum of point 3 and 4 based on the number of possessions. Point 4 is so horrible that the weighted average of 3 and 4 still takes us to historically bad levels.

So point 2 is all non Wemby Minutes. Point 3 is non Wemby but Kornet. Point 4 is non Wemby and non Kornet.

salary is not shocking at all. I posted a graphic on the old site that gives you a projected salary according to a players on court impact and it was exactly what we paid Kornet this year. Since his contract is descending he will actually be underpaid for his production.

Great stuff. I'm so glad French Vanilla played a lot of closing minutes yesterday. Feels like if Pop was still coaching, it would take him until the end of the season to try that combo when it's too late and he would be torturing us with Sochan next to Wemby with closing minutes instead.

The first half of my post should be taken half seriously by the way lol but it reminds me of when he refused to play Duncan/Splitter a lot early on.
