On his wiki page it says he holds the NCAA record for 3s by a 7 footer. If he can shoot the 3, they need to unlock that. Granted he's getting acclimated to playing alongside VW, but still, if he shoots the 3, that is a whole different level of possibility

Don't kill me, but if he and VW are both able to shoot from long distance, I would be intrigued to see a front court lineup with those two and Sochan at the 3.

Nah his metrics are elite when he doesn’t shoot it. You‘d take away his efficiency
 
as appealing as it is, he evolved into the good player he is now when he ditched the 3pt shot

I'd just like him to take those threes from the top of the key when there's no defender near him, just to keep them honest.
Considering how good his FTs are, he can easily make 35%+ from the top of the key.
 
I'm just speculating on a hypothesis. I appreciate the stats you posted, Spurraider 21. It looks like he was shooting a lot in general his first two years and those early made 3s didn't continue. But he has been used sparingly it seems and become efficient in short minutes. Now, for me the question is: has he learned from his experience in the league so that we could increase his minutes and attempts and NOT lose his efficiency. I don't see how he doesn't have a bigger role with us than he did with Boston. Also, their system was more based around Tatum and Brown from what I understand. That star heavy reliance might be duplicated with the Spurs this year but I think Mitch likes a team approach as that is in line with much of the Spurs history, but hey, we'll see.

As for Korn shooting 3s, I guess I'm open to him trying it and see what happens.
 
I can see him shooting more 3's than with boston. I think korn is to good to be used as only wemby's backup. They'll have plenty of time on the court together with many of times wemby will just need space to do his thing, naturally leading to inevitable attempts.
 
its also possible that we are seeing some of the wemby-kornet lineups due to the absences of sochan/olynyk. but if Luke can hold up for 20-25mpg (his career high was 18.6 last year), then there would be time for him to have all the backup 5 minutes and still leave time for twin tower stuff

one reason for optimism of that happening is for his career, he has a pretty low foul rate. for his career, he averages 3 fouls per 36 minutes. for reference, Zach Collins averages 4.8
 
Luke's way, way better than I expected. The guy is really good. I was one of the guys that thought the Spurs may have given him a bit too much (I'm sorry, Luke, I wasn't familiar with your game), but that contract is looking like a downright bargain (I guess it was more the length of the contract I was more worried about initially than the money).

I really liked this signing in the off season thought it was a good solid signing. You need guys who knows their role contributes to winning basketball with doing the little things asked of them. With that all said he looks even better than I expected in the preseason.
 
A reminder that the Spurs signed Kornet in free agency. There’s no reason to trade multiple players just to get one overpriced role player. A deal involving the whole Friendship crew (Keldon, Vassell, and Sochan) was never realistic. If any of them move on, it will happen separately in different offseasons, not all at once.

Well, that's yet another reason why you do NOT want to overpay to keep your own players, the more bad money you have on the books the less money available to target other FAs (or likelihood of doing so even if you can via NTMLE).
 
Plus the Luuuuke chant predates youkilis. Us LA kings fans used to do that for Robitaille every time he touched the puck
 
Great game tonight from Luke, and the stat-sheet still doesn't reflect his true impact. He's been huge for us defensively through 2 games. It doesn't turn into a layup-line anymore as soon as Wemby sits like it did last season. Hopefully his offense continues to improve as he gets more acclimated to playing with this group. Overall though he's been tremendous so far.

Luke's been awesome. Could have iced the game too if Steph didn't throw that pass too high towards the end of OT. He's been freaking great for the Spurs so far.
