Will the 2026 Hawks Swap Convey?

Bulls (17-20) are freefalling.. Still don't think Hawks (18-21) are outperforming 6th Magic (21-17) or 7th Miami (20-17) or 8th Cavs (21-18) for rest of season..

ATL should be looking in mirror as the 11th Bucks (assuming Giannis stays put) will likely pass them up and they already have the same number of losses (16-21)..They are not beating Giannis in an elimination game.

Still most likely scenario is another 13th/14th pick depending on how the West records shake out. Not too shabby for a swap (10+ jump!)

Safe to assume Trae's people canvased the league as to who would be willing to pay him a decent contract and Wizards were the best/only bite. You know it's a bad market when the Kangz are like "sorry, pass".

I've seen some worried about CJ McCollum adding value (aka wins) to the Hawks. I would just add that CJ has also been a remarkable tank commander this year and last. I'm interested to see how it plays out.
 
if the Hawks did trade for AD, I understand a package of Porzingis, Kennard and Risacher would work.
(Mavs want expirings, young player and picks)
DD-NAW-JJ-OO-AD as the starting line up looks quite good on paper. additionally CJ, Kispert, Krejci provide tons of shooting of the bench.
so, in theory this makes the Hawks a PO team and the pick trending south. more reason to think about using the pick in a trade.

They can send them out separately to Dallas, or a 3rd or fourth team in a larger trade. They just can’t package either with other players.

We're talking about a team trying to make the play-in in the East, they don't need to have 5 positive defenders on the floor.
NAW, Daniels, Risacher, Okongwu are all good perimeter defenders, right now they depend on Porzingis' health, he turns them into a good team.

I still don't understand what the reason for the rule is. I did know you can trade them separately, but what difference does it make by not being able to trade them again together? What is the reason for it?

I would imagine for stability reasons. Guys want to move, and bring their family with them, and put their kids in school. If you could easily be flipped three or four more times, that would be impossible. They make it difficult, but not impossible to move players more than once. As Pop would say, there more to life than basketball.

OK, I never thought of it that way. That makes a ton of sense. The NBA makes it a little harder to trade then multiple times. I never thought about uprooting families multiple times if they're traded multiple times. I'd say you've got it right.

Can he play the 4, because it looks like he hardly does. Bbref isn’t always accurate,but they,list 96% at the 5, and 4% at the 4. That’s kind of definitive.
 
Wemby can play the 4 or 5 tbh. Okongwu would fit in just fine, but I doubt the Hawks are trading with the Spurs again for the foreseeable future.

He can, but the issue is that Hawks haven't had a legit C in years, just washed Capela and injured Porzingis.

If Okongwu was actually available, I'd offer them to basically undo the Dejounte trade.
Cancel this year's swap and give them back their '27 pick in exchange for our '27 pick back.

If Atlanta was smart they wouldn't trade for AD and see what happens with the Pels pick. With Trae gone there's no rush to do anything.
 
Like Mugen said, I doubt ATL would make any trade with us right now, but if they would, I'd gladly make the deal LeBowen just suggested above for Okongwu tbh. He can easily play Barnes' role offensively of hitting (mostly corner) 3's (that's already his forte) while being a significant upgrade defensively. Would also give us some much-needed size on our front court — he's 6'10 250 lbs w/ a 7'1 wingspan. Just turned 25 last month so he's just entering his prime now and doesn't need years to develop. He'd be a seamless fit on this roster. No-brainer imo.

 
I don't see CJ making a winning impact in ATL. I hope they trade for Davis. That happens and we're drafting the top 10 for sure!
