My Current Projections for End of Season Playoff Seeding, Eastern Conference (current rank)

  1. Knicks (7)
  2. Cavs (5)
  3. Pistons (4)
  4. 76ers (1)
  5. Magic (10)
  6. Bucks (3)
  7. Bulls (2)
  8. Heat (6)
  9. Hawks (9)
  10. Raptors (8)
  11. Hornets (12)
Sounds about right. The Celtics may surprise and push for the Play-in too. And if the lottery gods are in the best mood, the Spurs might get upto the top 4 again. Who knows.

Think your top 8 in whatever order are very likely, with ATL/TOR/CHA and BOS fighting for 9/10. And Cha may lock in a top9 once they get their best player back.

If Mathurin can get back in the next couple wks Indy will be there too. East is so mediocre Siakam/Mathurin/Nesmith/Nembhard will compete nightly, shit they're competing right now with just Siakam and Nesmith and g-leaguers, 1-6 but they 6 good team + Dallas, 4 loses by combined 14 pts. We got a GREAT shot at another lottery pick!

Hawks gonna get that number 1 pick from Pelicans :st-lol:
Hard to imagine them totally falling out in the East, but given that Pels pick and their cap situation they could decide to just go mini-rebuild if they can find any taker for Trae.
Kristaps is a $31M expiring, Kennards $11M is expiring. They've got NAW and Dyson locked in for a few yrs at $40M combined, Jalen's playing at an AS level, Okongwu and Risacher.

Kristaps could be a very nice piece for us at the deadline. Unfortunately Oly + Sochan doesn't work, but Barnes + Sochan does...I'd really consider that plus adding a top2 protection to their swap if Kristaps is still standing and looking good at the deadline. The big rotation with Vic/Kristaps/Korn could totally lock down the paint.

Man the East is awful.

I think Boston pulls the plug at some point. Some of these teams will pull the plug along the season. The draft is pretty good this year.

Charlotte imo will end up sucking like always, though they have some smart players making up for Melo bonkers play. Other teams like Toronto and Orlando might be better than they look right now. Any so-called contending rank falls apart with a key injury or two. Would be nice to get another lottery pick but I dunno.

lol Zion now out for a couple weeks with hammy injury. Atlanta will get a top 5 pick and so can blow it up before the deadline and trade Trae without worrying about their record. Perfect storm for Spurs getting one more top four pick.

this makes about 1% sense out of 100

What I’m saying is that due to the NO pick once they have confidence they are getting a top 4 pick or so who likely in this draft will become a super star, they can confidently end the Trae Young era and trade him off as early as possible and get ready for a retooling around that pick. They will have no incentive not to tank and get that roster the way they want it to build out their new future. Tanking is unintended side effect of preparing to build around their next star by shuffling their roster a bit and getting what they can for Trae.

Maybe my use of tanking was confusing. What I meant was just sucking really really bad but not caring anyway.

What do you mean they'll have no incentive not to tank? Atlanta winning or losing has nothing to do with what lottery pick they'd get as it depends on NO. What if NO are playing better by the trade deadline and it's not a guaranteed lottery pick? They can't just trade off Trae.

I wonder what would happen Nico and Joe traded with each other
Third team sneaks in and pulls a heist like the NBA has never seen.

Spurs Acquire: Cooper Flagg, TMIII, a future 1st from NOP
Mavericks Acquire: Jeremy Sochan (defense wins championships) & Jordan McLaughlin
Pelicans Acquire: A bag of beignets, Bismack Biyombo, 12 SRPs

Goddamn Orlando sucks ass. This offense is disgusting and Banchero is a selfish, inefficient chucker. ATL end the first half on a 16-1 run. They’re up by 17 at half.

Just took a look at Orlando’s contracts and wow they are fucked. Not sure how they went all-in on this squad without a point guard or shooting.

Magic looked nice and then suddenly close to dogshit. That Bane trade gave up way too much. Revolting. And Banchero is plateauing as an inefficient player. They may be in trouble.

They’ve got Jase Richardson. They just have to play him, tbh.
