So what is the scenario with Trae? If he doesn't get the extension he wants, will Atlanta be forced to trade him? When does his rookie contract end?
He’s not on a rookie contract, he’s on his second, looking for a big third contract, He is unrestricted, and there are teams with cap room next summer. For us, the best case is that he walks, and they get nothing.

Can someone break this down how the swap conveys. Is it not just a clean swap? how does utah play into this?

1-ATL swap posibilitySAS will receive the more favorable of its 2026 1st round pick and ATL's 2026 1st round pick; UTA will receive the most favorable of its 2026 1st round pick protected for selections 9-30, MIN's 2026 1st round pick and CLE's 2026 1st round pick; MIN will receive the less favorable of its pick and the UTA pick if conveyabl

I don't know why is that other stuff included, for us it's a normal swap.

he's already on his second contract, and has a 49mil player option next season
Thanks for checking me. No idea wtf I was thinking that he's still on a rookie deal. I guess not watching much basketball between 2019 and 2022 made me forget who came in when.

Who are projected to be the top 3-4 picks in next year's draft? Boozer, Peterson, Dybansta? Am I missing anyone?

Hawks dropped to 1-3 with their loss to the Bulls last night, 128-123. They probably should be 0-4. No telling how the lack of a contract will effect Trae this year.

For us, it’s just a clean swap or not swap. Other shit can happen afterwards which is of no interest to me. I think ATL had the option to swap with Cleveland, whether we swap or not, which is tied to a previous Cleveland Utah swap in the Spider Mitchell trade.

Trae came in the same year as Luka, and it was a pretty noteworthy draft day deal. hawks took Luka at 3 and traded him to Dallas in exchange for Trae (5th pick) and a future protected pick

those are the big names im familiar with. i usually dont follow college ball other than when we begin getting closer to NBA draft relevance

Yep. Complete screwup on my part as I didn't watch much NBA when they first came in. I remember it now after you've said it.

Any idea if anyone from those three is a clear cut number 1, or is it too early to say?

He's young and should turn it around. But that Dyson Daniels extension not looking good so far tbh.
Some guys are just Bonzi Wells. You can literally look at their career stats page, and tell when they were showing out for the season before they were due for a contract.

AJ Dybantsa, Cam Boozer, and Darryn Peterson have been getting most of the media buzz, and rightfully so, but look out for Caleb Wilson out of UNC. The Freshman out of Atlanta, GA looks good so far this season. He's a 6'10 PF who is a versatile defensive monster, but also has a nice offensive game and jumper that extends out to the 3-point line. Would be a nice front-court pairing partner with Wemby. I guarantee he'll be all over the Spurs radar if he isn't already tbh.
