Will the 2026 Hawks Swap Convey?

Something else I'm keeping an eye on is Utah's record. Spurs have their second round pick and if they end up with the worst record in the league, it will have some trade value next June by being the first pick of the second day of the draft.
Cash considerations tbh

Oh great, another year of this shit. Toronto two years ago, and Atlanta last year and this year and next.

This one doesn't really matter because Hawks are making the playoffs unless they get struck down by a major injury crisis.

Orlando got another L vs the Bulls, who are now 2-0. It was back-to-back, but not a good start for the Magic.

How many high 2nd rounders do the Spurs have to trade out of / completely botch, before we just accept they're not worth our time? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 9834509348503458 times....

That's why I'm talking about trade value. Spurs trading the pick is a strong possibility. It is just that it will have quite more trade value if it's #31 instead of #32 or #33.

Using Vegas lines, Spurs are projected to have in addition of Hawks/Spurs first round pick, picks #31, #39 and #41. It's a given these 3 picks won't be kept.

You know maybe we can use it to get off one of our bad contracts like the vassell contract?

We really don’t need to “get off” contracts right now. In the context of upgrading then I think that’s a good idea but simply attaching picks to whittle down contracts doesn’t appeal to me. I feel that would just water down our depth.

Especially since this team loves holding players out and be super conservative when it comes to injuries.

Hawks are four points away from being 0-4 to start the season. They don't look good. It's hard playing defense with Trae Young, but one problem is that Dyson Daniels really doesn't look good so far this year. Their overall defense has taken a step backwards.

Trae young is playing like dog shit, who knows how long that'll last. The swap will 100% convey but it might not be as nice as we're hoping right now.

Of course, I hope the worst for the hawks. GSG

Worth mentioning that ATL receives the Pelicans' draft pick this year outright, so we need NOP to start not outright sucking at some point, too. Won't have an impact on the Hawks this year but would the following.

Trae Young didn’t get his MAX extension. It’s not a mystery.

Not sure it would with no Trae and a raw rookie.

So what is the scenario with Trae? If he doesn't get the extension he wants, will Atlanta be forced to trade him? When does his rookie contract end?

Wow, surprised to read so many negative predictions about the Hawks swap - I'll zag here and predict it'll be a "meaty" swap for us....... But also, I don't believe the Spurs finish all that high in the standings at the end of the season. At least not as high as the season's start is leading us to believe.

The flattened lottery odds work in our favor here, as the Hawks continue to be the middling farce they usually have been. I hope they continue to hang onto Trae Young, back up the Brinks truck for him - we still have one more pick of theirs, can't have them fixing the fundamental flaws on their team just yet. :st-hungry:

he's already on his second contract, and has a 49mil player option next season

He's young and should turn it around. But that Dyson Daniels extension not looking good so far tbh.
