NBA 2025-26 NBA Thread

I remember arguing Dillon Brooks held immediate value for a Suns team devoid of wing depth and defensive intensity. I remember taking up his three point shooting.

But even I am surprised as how well he has played. Honestly, if the Suns can rehab Green a bit and keep him healthy, they could trade him and maybe make a run at a 4-5 seed.

They’d need some big man depth back. Maybe a starting caliber PF and a backup PG with a 2nd.

Not sure they swing that, but that’s were the Williams, Allen, Brooks, Gillespie, Royce depth has them competing if they can stay healthy for a decent stretch.

Bucks post 2021 have been such a trainwreck. They never properly replaced their declining role players and the best they did was an aging Damian Lillard who ended up going back to his former team anyway.

Spurs need to take note of this but then again, Giannis never got to play with someone on the level of Fox, Castle, and Harper.
While Gianis may have been stupid enough to sign off on the Lilard trade, or for that matter the Coq Rivers coup.....

Both were absolute dumpster fires. Has to be put on Bucks front office and owner. Bucks downfall is only a small portion on Greek Freek.
Would be interesting to see what he could still do with a real coach and team.

He’s given them 7 prime years, 5 since the Title. Those 5 have been pretty bad. Turner makes sense on a team with a quality Jrue Holiday and several more shooters, but they ain’t got that, even if Rollins is doing nice statistically.

He probably needs to demand the trade. His value is insanely high right now and it can fetch the highest offer since they’d get this year, next year, and can work with him on an opt-in/extension the year following.

Not sure who the players would be. Miami is always at the forefront but Riley never likes to get got in trades. Oklahoma City has the ammo but I doubt they go that route. Knicks? I doubt bucks want Towns and will Brunson/Giannis work well without Towns and one of Mikal or OG? Spurs have the assets but not sure I see that play. Definitely have to give up Vassell, Harper, Castle and a 1st since none are All-Stars yet.

Tough place for both Bucks and Giannis to be.

I'm not giving up Harper period if I'm the Spurs. He's so creative at the basket and makes the kind of passes I would never expect out of a rookie, plus his 6'10.5" wingspan gives him some real defensive potential too. Unless they do something stupid like trade him I think Harper becomes the best PG in franchise history.

Agreed, there isn't a single team that would be a legit contender after trading for him.
Bucks have no reason for let him go for anything less than a massive haul which means whichever team trades for him won't have enough good players left.

OKC, Rockets and Spurs are the only reasonable trade partners, but I doubt any of those three would be interested. Spurs definitely wouldn't, Rockets also look like they evolved past it and OKC has no reason to disrupt their balance, as good as Giannis is.

Knicks? All of their good players are 28+, Bucks have no interest in those, they'd want young players. And Knicks already traded away most of their picks.
Masai left Toronto, he would've surely tried to get him.
Heat have nothing to offer.

Maybe Banchero for Giannis? Banchero and Wagner are obviously a bad fit.
Utah could do it, but it's Ainge. Keep Markkanen, give them Kessler+Bailey+5 FRP and a couple more of those young players they have.

The Nets make maybe even the most sense next summer. Not just for Giannis, but any star.
They can't tank in 2027 because Rockets have their swap, they have the most cap space in the league and a lot of picks.
But they've been burned twice already, I doubt Marks dares to try again.

Wouldn't shock me if he's sent to the Lakers for pennies on the dollar after this season so LA can stay relevant against OKC tbh.

Fair. Just saying what I think it takes for Prime Giannis. Castle is nice, might have All-Star upside. Vassell may have another level with his age. Spurs got some picks coming to them plus their own, maybe Carter has some sort of value with an extra pick or two.

Again like I said, I don’t really see the Spurs as a play here. Houston was the play but they got Durant, and I just don’t see a world where they get Giannis with Durant and Sengun while having to give up Amen, or, maybe they keep Amen and give up Sengun and Phoenix 1sts?

Can Giannis, Durant, Amen and like one of Eason or Jabari plus Reed make a run?

The thing is that even if Spurs wanted to do it, they can't risk it because as we're seeing again, Wemby can't stay healthy.
If Wemby had a clean injury history I'd maybe consider it, but not like this. No chance.

Bucks won't trade Giannis without getting the best young player from the team that's getting him. No chance.

Don't tell me we're looking at another Lakers scam.
I think the China Doll for MVP level Doncic should last a little while before their next scam. But i would not underestimate.

LMAO Reaves Ayton Knecht and a 1st for Giannis on the sly! Haha

Banchero for Giannis is actually a solid idea. Not sure what they have in 1sts after Bane, but surrounding Giannis with shooters and a point of attach PG holds potential.

Banchero/Isaac/Jace Richardson/1st?

I don't see the Spurs trying to get him either. Giannis is on the wrong side of 30 so it's a short term win now move and the Spurs have the young talent to not really need to do that. Plus I don't see anyone having much of a chance against this year's OKC team.

if Giannis has actually told milwaukee he wants out, they should hire Nico Harrison as a temporary consultant tbh

Wow Dillingham is really quite terrible... who wanted this chud?
Loved him until I saw him standing next to Castle at the draft lottery. Then seeing him come in at Trae Young weight (164 lb) at the combine was the final straw.

Yep, people don't want to get into this conversation for obvious reasons: To me, Harper is the back-up plan in case Wemby's career gets derailed by injuries..It's reasonable to say we have seen few red flags on that front..Harper just has the main and rudimentary tools of an offensive engine who is capable of carrying teams (elite floor-raising) and his defensive chops were vastly underrated pre-draft..

Alternatively, Harper is the guy who makes it likely Wemby wins titles if he stays healthy and isn't just having to carry the team completely on his shoulders like David Robinson in his prime. In either case he is for all intents and purposes untradeable. Dylan's just too pure a basketball player. Feels like I'm watching a Kobe level talent every time he steps on the floor.

CP3 apparently waived by the Clippers. Does he retire now or go somewhere he can actually ring chase? Also shows the Clips might just blow it up now. Good news for OKC unfortunately .

Nephew thought he could be like LeBron and form his own super team when really he should have just stayed with either the Spurs or Raptors where he had some stability. Going to go down as one of the best players ever to fuck up his own legacy.

on his instagram story he just posted “Just found out I’m being sent home” 😂😂

Chris Paul as assistant coach, anyone??
This was my first thought, or maybe as a consultant just to grab a few vibes. We still have a lot to unlock with our guard play and rotations, and CP could be a huge asset.
