Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Wemby wasn't even crying because of the game. The dude said he was exhausted from the b2b and that probably caused him to get emotional after the game.

Hmmmm, White Chocolate or Spurs Legend TMac and Vinsanity. I'll take the Cousins in this battle (though no lie, all 3 of those guys are amongst the most entertaining ballers I've ever seen. Manu up there with them).

That video I mentioned I watched a few pages back that Paramore originally posted, Bruce called Vince the Tin Man. I had kind of forgotten about that as that is how I viewed Vince myself. Bruce said he was one of the best talents, but said he was missing something (hence, calling him Tin Man). Vince was a favourite player of mine up until around 2001, 2002 or so, but he lost me after that (pretty much for the reasons Bruce said). Also interesting that Bruce didn't have much of a problem with Ray Allen (I thought Bruce didn't like him).
What are you guys' thoughts on Vince?

Wemby was definitely watching Jordan highlights for his pumpfake.

Carter had it all, inside and outside game, incredible athleticism, great footwork, great build, can shoot well, great handles. He can play defence if he wanted to too. Just that he never really understood when to take over and is perfectly content to take a backseat.

Story was when he was with the raptors, Oakley would ride his ass and Carter was scared of him. Not surprisingly Carter also had his best season the last year he was with Oakley. I think Oakley claimed Carter drove him away because he was in carters face too much or something like that. Oak also had issues with carters mom as well.

He is just as good as Kobe tmac and Iverson. But he has the least drive amongst the four. He’s almost like a wing version of sheed in that regard. Alpha talent, beta mentality.

Wemby played 36 minutes tonight. See if only wemby play 35 minutes every game he’ll have great stats every night like tonight.

Don’t love him taking 15 threes, but nights like this are necessary in the grand scheme of things. Have to prove to teams that you can’t just get away with sagging off of Wemby and forcing him to beat you from outside.

If they are all going to be catch and shoot while being set and nobody in his face, then by all means shoot as many 3's as you want. We are going undefeated for an entire season with that kind of shot diet. Celtics just refused to guard him out there.

Celtics used the I dare you to make your 3s... well this backfired massively. A bit of a lack of respect there but I'll take it, I am quite sure they will review their game plan next time.

In a vacuum,no, you probably don’t want him taking 15 threes, but when he’s hitting them at a good clip from the jump, it saves wear and tear on him, and keeps them guessing. Both of those are good things.

Agree. See how the first few go and go from there. If they're hitting, let them fly. If not don't get trigger happy. Overall I'm very impressed with his last 4 games. Those are they type of games I expected to see from a player of his caliber. Minutes are up, points are up, FG and 3pt FG percentages and rebounds are good, defense is always there. Just total dominance in my opinion these last 4 games. Doesn't show any signs of slowing down either. Can't wait for the playoffs to start.

As talented as Vince was, I feel Bruce's assessment wasn't that far off. I remember a friend of mine, the first full game he watched of Vince (he'd only seen highlights up to that point of his dunks and flashy plays) was a game between the Raptors and one of the champion Lakers teams (I can't remember what year/team). After he watched it, he told me was not impressed and was disappointed. Told me that Vince just took jump shots all game and never drove it in. Basically, called him soft.

I sort of stopped being a fan after Manu and Dwade came into the NBA, as both of those guys showed no fear taking it to the rim while not being afraid of contact. That is the style of play I loved (getting to the rim and trying to finish while drawing the foul was a bonus). I slowly stopped being a fan of Vince's after both of those guys came into the NBA and played with a ton of heart. Really a shame as VC did still end up having a very, very good career, but with all the stuff you pointed out that he could do, it could have been so much better IMO.

I didn't really watch the play closely, but it seemed it was inadvertent. Did Vic actually push him?
yeah but it was a soft push like “come on plays over gtfo”. Then Tatum flops and falls on his butt. Cue Boston fans crying about JT’s Achilles etc etc lol

Son birthday, what is the best Wemby rookie card to buy for around $100 price range?
You can get his base Prizm #136 in a PSA 10 for around $150 if you're going to go up a little.

His Optic Holo rookie in a PSA 9 will be around the same if you want to go for a card with a little more visual pop.

His Base Select Courtside #288 in a PSA 10 will be around $120.

If you don't care about graded, his Courtside #288 in Blue Prizm or Blue Cracked Ice will be around $120 raw.

You've got bad timing, as his cards are at his peak right now... feel free to DM me, I have a pretty extensive Wemby collection and am knowledgeable of the market for his cards. Very happy to help. You can check out my collection on IG @ WembyCards
