Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

After orchestrating that 83-point stat-padding charade, this is what Spo is reduced to doing these days: pitiful lobbying for individual awards. You are a great coach, but this is why you will never touch Pop or even your mentor (Riley) greatness. Never thought that he would self-abase they way he did this week.

Wemby could literally check into the game for 2 seconds for every remaining game and he would still lap Bam for DPOY. Its not even a contest lol some of these players are so salty

If Wemby has a game with 60 points after 3 quarters I want him to go for 80 as well ... independent of the game score.
Bam is not sniffing that DPOY in any way though

Wtf. Never realized there was a time restriction either. Lame
well its not lame because its designed to prevent the obvious gaming the system by playing a guy 1 minute and benching him as you just suggested

theres a time restriction but i think there are 2 "exception" games they get where they can get away with playing 15 instead of 20 minutes, and wemby has used up one of those.

Yea as spurraider21 said, you have to play 20+ minutes in at least 63 out of the 65 required games to be eligible for awards and All-NBA Teams. They allow a 2-game exception where you can play between exactly 15-20 minutes and those 2 games will still count towards your 65. Anything less and it won't count. If you suffer a season-ending injury though, then that player must have played at least 62 games instead of 65 to be eligible for postseason awards and All-NBA Teams. There was a game back in December against the Wizards where Wemby only played 17 minutes so he's already used one of those games up.

Even more upsetting than this is Lowe not having Castle on either his first or second All-Defensive team

I have no idea why Miami is so insistent in labelling Wemby as just a shotblocker. Wemby absolutely warps the entire halfcourt due to his shot blocking, but he is also incredibly quick in closeouts.

I have no ill will towards Bam, I always thought of him as a rich man's Dray (yes, there I said it) but he has nowhere close to the defensive impact Wemby brings.

Amazing how the discourse went from discussing the merits of Bam's 83-point night to discussing the online discussion of the merits of Bam's 83-point night. Social media really is a hall of mirrors that we're trapped in with no hope of escaping.

Mostly I saw whining from the Kobe fans as if his record was broken. No record was broken kids..

You mean when Tatum and White were abusing Wemby on the perimeter?

I'm sure you could cherry pick examples of Bam Adebayo getting beat by offensive players on drives and post-ups. Wemby's defensive impact is unquestionably greater than any single other player in the NBA, and it's not even close.
