Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Curry won unanimous mvp without playing defense. Even harden won it. There is an award for best defensive player and thats dpoy.
I didn’t say the mvp award is a best defense award, so no need to put those words in my mouth.

David Robinson didn’t win league mvp when he was the scoring champ but won it the following year when he wasn’t the scoring champ

Curry was a godly offensive player who was an adequate defender.

What in saying is defense is not a factor when choosing MVP.. MVP is offensive stats/impact + winning.

I know that is what you are saying but it’s wrong. Tim Duncan never would have won an mvp award if this was the case

It’s an award that leans offense to be sure, but elite defense also ends up a factor even if it’s not AS much a factor as offensive production

Duncan was elite on offense when he won mvp. He was 5th in scoring in his first mvp and 7th on his 2nd MVP. And also duncan played heavy minutes (39mpg)on in his first 8 seasons in the NBA( including MVP years 2002 and 2003).

Wemby ia not wven in ghe top 10 inscoring. His 24ppg ranks 19th.

There were better offensive players than him but his defense put him above them

Nah. He didnt even won dpoy those years. He was great defender because he was selected all defense, but his offense won him mvp. Not defense.

I didnt say in order to win mvp you have to be the top scorer. I didnt say that.

I never said he won DPOY. You are incapable of having an honest discussion, so I’m done going back and forth

Wemby needs a huge statement game and a win vs Cade & Pistons if he wants to build momentum for his MVP case

lol. So if the Spurs lose against Detroit but then go on the win the West no MVP for Wemby?

Ok.

For anyone who wants to understand why I am so hard on Wemby when it comes to consistency: the bar for sustained excellence was set so fuckin high by Timothy Theodore Duncan. No nights off, no weeks off, no month offs. And we were all witnesses.

You're hard on Wemby because he isn't as good as prime Tim Duncan at an age where Duncan was playing basketball on a bad team in the ACC?

Wow makes total sense now. Thanks for explaining.

You also dont understand my point. Defense is not a factor when choosing MVP. You gave duncan as an example without knowing Duncan played elite offense in his first 7 -8 years in the nba. Elite offense plus winning thats the reason he won MVP.

Jokic won 3 MVP’s without sniffing all nba defensive team.

Yep. Just became my first use of the ignore function on this board

Stopped reading this post after this nonsense.
It's kinda true, though. The rest of the World isn't as greedy and money driven as hardcore capitalist America. It's a cultural thing, tbh.

America is stupid and I'm very anti-capitalism frankly and I don't think Billionaires should exist but I'm not going to let you guys act like Europe is substantially different regarding the number of people that want to be rich let alone say shit like no one wants to be a millionaire. Don't try to defend that shit.

Yeah soccer players take pay cuts all the time!

/s
PSG - where amazing players come play for less than a million dollars! I love how Mbappe is playing for free over at Real Madrid because he didn't want to make anymore money. The French hate being rich so much they never had colonies all over the world!

Wemby is going to take the max - and he should - and we don't' need to live in a fantasyland involving making nonsense statements about any countries

Health care, quality free education and vacations. Three main pilars that differentiate the US from the rest of the World, tbh. It is unconceivable for the rest of the World for those things to not be taken care of for the population. That's also why US people can't understand why folks from other parts of the World are fine with getting taxed 50% or more of their salaries. Like I said, it's a cultural thing. But I will leave it at that 'cause I don't want to get a political talk strike. :st-lol:

Yeah I don't disagree with you on those differences in general but lets be clear that saying that people in other parts of the world have different ideas of an appropriate tax rate is not the same as saying no one in France wants to be a millionaire. One is a perfectly reasonable thing to say and the other is something that should make everyone stop reading the post. I agree 100% with what you're saying in your last post but there's no need to conflate that with an insane statement above.

Of course people would love to be millionaires in any part of the World, I'm just saying that people in the US have to worry more about money and saving because of all those things I mentioned, so you are wired to get as much as you can, since government is a no show in certain basic rights.

Folks in other parts of the World would accept earning less for a better standard of living, since they know there are certain things that will always be affordable for them.
