Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Dear Narcissistic Vindictive Territorial humorless Commenters,

Wemby is more like Jordan than anyone since Kobe. While Kobe was basically the Talented Mr. Ripley version of Jordan—psychopathic levels of mimicry but almost as effective- It’ was like a psychopath imitating a psychopath. Wemby delivers his own natural, eclectic take on Jordan’s fire. Like Jordan, Wemby still has to grow into the team leader role Jordan mastered, and with a coach like Mitch, he has to.

Let’s be real, Pop became the true leader of the Spurs during the Duncan era because Tim wasn’t the vocal, take-charge type. Anyone who knows the team recognizes Pop’s four distinct phases: the assistant coach under a master, the “Littlefinger” chaos-as-a-ladder era, the Duncan-era clear head of the snake phase, and the Professor Pop/mad king era where he won’t give up the throne.

Looking at the Spurs right after the 2025 draft, the turnaround seemed inevitable based on talent alone. Wemby, Castle, and Harper looked ready to spark a run reminiscent of David Robinson’s rookie surge and the Twin Towers era with Duncan. But between the obsession with minutiae, stats, and the personal biases of those enamored with their own deep basketball knowledge, few actually believed it would happen.

Maybe Mitch is the Kind of bland Coach Wemby Needs for this to be his team. Maybe Mitch is some milk toast simulator coach version of Doug Collins, they Guy before the guy who takes all the Credit for winning.

Food For thought Commentors

Don't let me keep you from impressing yourselves and one another.

PS. We’ve all seen this kind of league collusion, where a player is held back by an institutional disregard for the rules. Think back to the Jordan Rules—it wasn’t just a strategic trapping or double-teaming in the post, it was one team assaulting a single player and being allowed to get away with it. Now it feels like the whole league is allowed to push Wemby around like a tackling sled in the NFL or sandwich him under the basket during an inbounds pass. It’s just more proof that Wemby is more like Jordan than anyone before, with his own “Wemby Rules,” essentially Jordan Rules 2.0, while online people keep putting out content like “so-and-so figured out how to guard Wemby.”

Yeah Right, "Figured out how to get away with assault"

Hopefully Mitch or Sweeny will figure out an easy solve for this before the NEXT guy who takes credit comes in an implement this element. Mitch seems to focus on his own blah blah blah offense than incorporating this.
Ill jus leave this here

Wemby really stayed within the flow of the game and allowed Castle, Bryant and Vassell to shine. Part of it was being an offensive decoy to open up more space for everyone, but, Wemby is a superstar and becoming the face of the league AND is able to play within the flow of a game in support of his teammates at age 22. Not sure that Kobe and Shai ever fully got out of the way. Very Spursian and bodes well for the ceiling of this squad. If Minnesota and Denver are in the same bracket and we stay healthy, we could go far. Like LOB far. This season. Also, refraining from too much exuberance because Dallas is horrific defensively. But we might be putting it together a little bit.

The team is clearly loaded with offensive talent - as long as Wemby continues to bring DPOY defense nightly, the Spurs are cooking with gas. Who cares about stats besides games won. If the team has enough success, the accolades will come on their own.... All the way to FMVP.

If Carter Bryant can become a productive bench player this season that would be like found money between the couch seats. Loving his confidence lately, adds a new dimension to our weakest position on the roster.

Sad to say but he has a weak personality of being dictated by the organization. No alpha play and alpha mentality.
Dude, you are getting annoying with your overcaring of individual stats. We all want Wemby to play 35 minutes and win MVP, but you are taking it too far, tbh. Chill a bit, bro.
