Manu was a rookie in 2003, a bench player and wasnt a superstar. so 29 minutes s just about right for him.If you look closely, you'll see that Pop actually started load management as far back as the 2004-2005 season with Duncan & Ginobili. 33 minutes for an in-prime 28 year old superstar/top 5 all-timer was pretty low minutes, ESPECIALLY for 2004.
Many superstars in those days played 40 minutes. Same with Manu. In his prime averaging 29 minutes. That Manu could've averaged 30 today with BOTH the green-light AND 35+ minutes. It worked fine then, BUT, THIS team ISN'T the 2005 Spurs.

Again, where the heck is that Wemby-Fox PnR?!I still don’t love his offensive shot diet lately. I get that teams are putting a ton of attention on him but it’s just wild that we can’t get him some easier looks at times. Feel like we hardly even run PnRs with him.
On nights like tonight it doesn’t really matter but we have a long way to go in terms of maximizing his skillset. Obviously some of it falls on him as well.
I’m convinced that master tactician and hoops genius Mitch is lurking in the shadows, scheming away, poised to unveil his magnum opus: Fox-Wemby Pick n Roll (or maybe a crafty Pick n Pop) right on the grand stage of the NBA Finals.Again, where the heck is that Wemby-Fox PnR?!
I sometimes get the feeling that Wemby lacks the patience for being a solid screener. It looks like he wants to roll and get the ball before the screen has even been properly set.I still don’t love his offensive shot diet lately. We will be fine as long as the 3s are falling tbh![]()
Blame spurs organization tbhWemby is averaging 28.7 MPG, less than his rookie season. Good luck bumping that to 35 MPG come playoffs time and not have him huff and wheeze for a breath late in games.
Pretty safe to say all that work done on stamina and conditioning the past summer has been extensively rolled back. He hasn't logged 30 minutes of intensive basketball for two full months now. Not even post-Achilles dudes would be subjected to this insanity.
Timmy won MVP in '03 averaging 23/13/3. His defensive impact and the success of the team were the primary contributing factors. If we end up winning 52+ games with Wemby averaging 24/11/3 as the unanimous DPOY, I don't see why he shouldn't easily be 1st team All-NBA (i.e. top 5 in the NBA).The league really wants wemby to win MVP or atleast he’s belong in the conversation. 24pts/11reb/2.9blk is not an MVP level stats in today’s league. But somehow he climed from 5th spot to 4th. Lmao.
They are ghost screens and flare screens. Victor is as thick as a little rat from the Paris Opera; if he sets a screen, you just go around a bamboo stick. Any opposing ninja can easily get around his butt.I sometimes get the feeling that Wemby lacks the patience for being a solid screener. Too bad he'll never be able to play 36.
