I think OKC has nothing to lose now. Next game they'll be at home... gotta attack him with everything they got and hope he gets in foul trouble.

Teams are barely challenging him anymore.. It is actually infuriating. It was a matter of time the block streak would end; at least he cleared the 100 game milestone

I used to think like you until I realized I was missing the Elephant in the room...

It's actually better for him, he's less at risk of foul trouble, saves his body from too many contacts and he allows his teammates to gamble and be uber aggressive knowing that even if their player gets past them they won't go to the rim.

Fuck the record, it was an unimportant distraction at best. I want all of them to keep avoiding him!

I was hoping he would challenge the record. But it's amazing and hilarious to see teams avoid him the way they do.
 
what did holmgren do to wembanyama, seriously ? that's so cringe to see him doing his worse MJ arrogant disrespectful trash talking impersonation every time it comes to Holmgren. tonight, a french reporter asked him if he sees his matchup against holmgren as a true rivalry and what he thought about him as a player. He didn't even answer about the player that holmgren is and just said: "no, there is no rivalry. Sportingly, there's just no comparison between us.", using in french an expression making it very clear that they're not on the same level. Weird from him who is usually a class act......

There’s nothing wrong with what he’s saying or doing. On top of the fact that all of it is true. When you talk about Spurs and OKC you talk about Wemby and SGA. And then Fox/Castle and Jdub.

Chet is a 3rd option at best. It frankly is insulting.
 
It's great to see Victor trying to establish a culture of “socios/ultras” in San Antonio through chants and clapping (made popular on a large scale in Europe thanks to the Iceland team at Euro 2016). He had already introduced this practice at the Metropolitans. As long as he doesn't bring in vuvuzelas, it's a step in the right direction.

“You may say I'm a drummer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one.”

And seeing him come off the bench continues to do him and the team good. We don't care about status. It's even welcome after all those statements of misplaced arrogance over the past few weeks. And thanks to OKC for taking special care to stop one of Wemby's records. We can't let him have it easy. OKC has always been good at avoiding block parties (except Holmgren).

No problem coming off the bench. If you play 20 minutes, would you rather start on the bench at the beginning of the first and third quarters, or would you rather finish the games? "I finish the games." It's a deal. You're getting too hung up on these status issues when the team is one of the top three in the league and has just beaten the defending champions twice.

Chet got the FIBA u19 World Cup MVP in 2021 over Wemby.
USA beat France in the final.
Chet had 10/2/5.
Wemby had 22/8 with 8 blocks.

Media started comparing them, which obviously triggered Wemby and we're here for the ride.

It's quite simple and I don't get what people are missing...

Wemby dgaf about Chet, he doesn't consider him a threat and even less at his level (which is factual tbh)

Wemby is upset at the media trying to push this rivalry narrative, and wants to show them how ridiculously wrong they all are.

They still don't get it and try to push it despite Chet having NEVER been at Vic's level in their confrontations... surreal tbh :ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure fans realize how rare it is for a super star to accept coming off the becnh THAT many times.

Wemby is helping massively Mitch the same way TD allowing Pop to scream at him helped this one shred anyone comfortably after.

Huge respect for Vic tbh, the kid is really different, he's über ambitious but still have his ego in check. It rarely goes together in life.

which is stupid and arrogant. he said basically "it's not even close". Holmgren never talked about him. Never said anything bad. It's just Wemby who created this rivalry thing because he always behaved differently against him, otherwise there would be absolutely no reporter bringing the topic on his interviews.

what ? he was offended that Holmgren was in the race for ROTY ? that's it ? well, he deserved to be in this race, he was very good and Victor deserved to win, everything's OK.

Oh and Holmgren is a very very good player. smart, efficient, very complete. and is a key contributor on a champ and the best team of the league right now. in his year 3.

Look, as a French man travelling a lot, I realize that the way we tend to speak (especially Parisians) can be interpreted as arrogant, but it's not.

We just have a "matter of fact" way of saying things. That's all Wemby did.

Do you see Chet being comparable to Wemby is any form? Please tell us in which area...??

They're completely different in the way they play basketball, their abilities, the way opponents and their own team see and treat them.

Chet is playing off ball on offense and help defense ffs, how is it comparable to Wemby? In what world?

Imagine Steph Curry being compared to Jeff Teague! Wouldn't he be right to be offended?

Since day one many media overblown the France-USA game when Chet wasn't even a rival of Wemby (who was underage btw) , it was Kenneth Lofton!

As for the ROTY, only reason Chet was pushed was bc he's playing in a winning team and suddenly(!) it became key criteria that season smh.

If Chet wasn't playing for a contender where he can play off ball he wouldn't look as good, he's so unathletic he makes Wemby look like Shaq

None of the explanations I’ve seen make any sense. This is obviously very personal. Chet must have done something personally to Vic.

Oh... he definitely GAF. He's got it out for Chet and I think it's awesome. All that crap at the beginning of his rookie year where Chet was leading in the rookie ladder, and then Chet showed up and Wemby made him look like a 7th grader blocking his crap.
 
I can see how it can be taken the wrong way by other fans, but this is kind of the same situation as how Jordan took offense to Drexler in 92 when everyone was comparing the two before the finals. Same position, similar build, similar style of play. Drexler never talked about Jordan or did anything to him, Jordan just got offended that the media compared the two and went full tryhard to show that there were levels to this. It's the same concept here. Is it a little arrogant? Yeah, but I doubt Wemby has anything against Chet personally, he's just trying alter what he views as a mistaken public perception that there's some similarity between the two. You can say that Jordan was a champion already and could talk his shit, but Drexler was also better than Chet is currently as well.
 
Here we go again, Chet and Victor have history before the NBA.. Chet talked shit to Victor after a france USA game iirc, Victor did not like it at all then he gets offended when people make comparaisons. Not sure what’s difficult to understand. Also muricans getting all worked up because a French is fucking arrogant, give me a break.. murican nba players invented cockiness and shit with Shaq looking down people getting dunked on or curry antics but there nobody is complaining
