No one here knew that. Stop ragging on people that were venting after a tough loss/poor performance from him after he talked himself up bigtime (I wasn't happy with his play, but didn't really get on him about it. I easily could have as I'd prefer he doesn't talk it up and then come out and play poorly. Jokic is a phenomenal player and he kind of disrespected him with what he said). In any case, do you think everyone that piled on him during the game would have if they knew what happened beforehand? I would have been telling him not to play the game if I knew his grandmother passed away. If he was very close, it would have been crushing for him to hear that and then have to turn around and play a game. He probably didn't want to let his teammates down, but he should have taken it off. If it was Pop coaching, I doubt he would have let him play. I'm quite relieved that he didn't get hurt as his mind doesn't look like it was into the game at all and he could have gotten hurt playing against a physical Knicks team.
TD, I can't remember how many games he took off in the 2002 playoffs, but I think he took game 3 and maybe 4 off against the Supersonics and came back for game 5. This was just a regular season game. Sure it was for the Emirates Cup final, but still not anywhere close to a playoff game.
