Garnett was a very strong long 2 18-foot jumper guy, which is a 3 pter today. As for Garnett not being a strong shot blocker I’m not sure what to say. He had two seasons in the top 10 and 10 seasons in the top 20 in the age of the giants, as a PF. Garnett was one of the best in recovering from the perimeter for a block.
Jokic would be nice. Id be ecstatic. But Jokic uses his girth a lot and that’s something wemby doesn’t have. Garnetts game with a high post turnaround, some dribble creation is pretty much what wemby is doing now.
TD took Game 4 off in that 2002 1st round series and came back for Game 5.No one here knew that. Stop ragging on people that were venting after a tough loss/poor performance from him after he talked himself up bigtime (I wasn't happy with his play, but didn't really get on him about it. I easily could have as I'd prefer he doesn't talk it up and then come out and play poorly. Jokic is a phenomenal player and he kind of disrespected him with what he said). In any case, do you think everyone that piled on him during the game would have if they knew what happened beforehand? I would have been telling him not to play the game if I knew his grandmother passed away. If he was very close, it would have been crushing for him to hear that and then have to turn around and play a game. He probably didn't want to let his teammates down, but he should have taken it off. If it was Pop coaching, I doubt he would have let him play. I'm quite relieved that he didn't get hurt as his mind doesn't look like it was into the game at all and he could have gotten hurt playing against a physical Knicks team.
TD, I can't remember how many games he took off in the 2002 playoffs, but I think he took game 3 and maybe 4 off against the Supersonics and came back for game 5. This was just a regular season game. Sure it was for the Emirates Cup final, but still not anywhere close to a playoff game.
That’s awesome!took me a while to find something, but i guess it does.
I don't think it would be wise just on an athletic aspect, such a journey would require more time for the body to digest the jet lag and ridiculous amount of hours in a plane.you only get one opportunity to participate at the funerals of a loved one and to be there for his mom. He will get another opportunity to win DPOY, I think that if he left today for France he can come back on Sunday to be there against OKC on Tuesday. He gets to spend 3 days with his family and one day to recover from jet lag (not much). Then, if he gets injured again during the season, he dresses up even if injured and plays one minute.
Wemby is so much more effective when he's scoring through the flow of the offence, especially when he is moving and cutting and establishing postion before he gets the ball. That effectiveness drops dramatically when he starts to go iso starting from the perimeter. He's got great handles for a 7 + foot player but when he tries dribbling through traffic his height will always be a negative for him because the ball has more time to travle from hand to the floor and most NBA defenders can easily disrupt it.
When you're the Franchise player and have so much responsibility on offense, you can't also have the same intensity on defense. It's not surprising he never led a block category, bc it's usually defensive specialists that get those.I did not say KG was not a strong shot blocker, I said not great which is a slight difference. Not great in a sense he never led the league in that category and he is a career 1,4 bpg and had one season over 2, Victor is a totally different animal without even talking about the fact he discourages an uncalculable number of shots near the rim. At one point you take all all time big and you can find similiraties with Victor, KG is one them for sure but if you talk about emulating my choice would be Jokic, they don't have the same strength obviously but they have same gravity in the offense, passing, play making, spacing and dealing with double teams are things Jokic excels at... exactly what Victor and this Spurs team need. For the rest I maintain I don't see KG as a great fit with Victor or Spurs organization as a whole eventhough KG could help develop some mid range go to move
What planet are you on? Wemby has led the league in blocks per game and total blocks the last two seasons. When you're the Franchise player and have so much responsibility on offense, you can't also have the same intensity on defense. That's another aspect where Wemby is unique and also what worries me the most long term for him.
We've never seen anyone willing to have as much impact on both sides and with today's type of bb it would put anyone's health at risk, let alone a frail body. IMO Wemby will have to make a choice at some point.
As for KG, I think he's not the same guy he was as a player and his knowledge and advices would be invaluable for Wemby, not so that he copy/become like him, just so that he add that to all the other tips he can get from the best.
During his last pod with Pierce, he for ex gave a tip on how Wemby should hold the ball above his head etc
He was talking about KG.What planet are you on? Wemby has led the league in blocks per game and total blocks the last two seasons.
Gotcha.He was talking about KG.
timmy missed 1 game vs the sonics after his father passed away (spurs lost by 12 and the sonics tied the series 2-2. that was in the best of 5 days)
Thanks. I couldn't quite remember if it was one or two games. I knew it was definitely game 4 since the series went to game 5, but I wasn't sure if he also missed game 3.TD took Game 4 off in that 2002 1st round series and came back for Game 5.

for me, he should be able to shoot over people easily especially if teams continue to throw guards or forwards at him. I don't think that he will ever be capable of pushing other players in the low post like Shaq, Tim, Olajuwon...but he should be able to get to the range he feels the most confident and shoot over people like KD (without all the dribbling as Wemby is not as good as KD in that regard)Point is both are quite different players and I don't see Amb comparaison as valid (Victor is a 7'5 KG). As I said, Victor does not need more tips and tricks and stuff his issue is to digest what he has learned already, he needs to determine his mid range go to move on offense, sort it out, simplify and focus on being aggressive on the rim, he said himself that he tends to stay away when feeling tired. He knows it no need for big mouth KG to remind him that.
I have listened to his podcasts and stuff like everybody and sorry I am not impressed by his knowledge and advices... I have been "impressed" for instance by some of Lebron interviews or play calling certainly not KG.
Anyway that's me.
If Victor wants to emulate a player, pick Jokic, if he wants to work with talented bigs he has Tim near by or even LMA.
imho fwiw etc etc...

Take a deep breathing before you answer and check if you've read properly the post before. What planet are you on? Wemby has led the league in blocks per game and total blocks the last two seasons.
Creating space is the main thing he can teach him imo and it's one of Wemby's biggest issue. What is Studio Gangster going to teach Wemby? Wemby is already a better defender than KG ever was, and the last thing Vic needs to do is become a midrange artist like Garnett.

You can dislike KG but he's not an idiot and people can get better with age as well.
Not saying it's a necessity but I can't see what he has to lose, on the contrary...
Look at the shitty defense he was going up against. This does not translate to how NBA basketball is played in 2026. Defenses play completely different now.A good video that shows what Wemby could learn from another skinny tall player
