Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

it was an avoidable injury, IMO. He’s gonna have to change his style of play against smaller players.
Hopefully going more to post-up or midrange moves. He doesn’t need to try a wild drive in that situation…just shoot over Holiday. A player like Tim, Hakeem, or Kareem would all day.

He could've avoided the injury if he just let the ball go and braced himself, but he didn't want to turn it over.
Which was a terrible decision so early in the game, one possession can't change much.

He’s never going to always make the right decision in a split second like that. It’s better if he doesn’t put himself in that position in the first place. Stop trying to drive around smaller players.

All 3 of those guys had a stronger base than Victor. I could picture any of those 3 guys easily moving Jrue underneath the basket by backing him down and doing a simple hook, dunk, or face up.

That’s the biggest take away. This was a completely self-inflicted injury on his part. You are trying to run over a player that is 13 inches shorter than you all the way out at the three-point line. Victor, I love you but that’s just insanity. And Mitch Johnson and that coaching staff cannot be OK with that. That has to stop. I’m not listening to the “well that’s how he plays” narrative.

Change it.

Yup. Priority for the summer. He needs to be able to reliably shoot over those little guys.
He needs to look at a lot of footage of Kevin Durant honestly. Get to where you want to be in that mid range turn around and shoot the fucking thing. Nobody can block it. Catch and shoot. Or quick move and shoot.

People seem to be downplaying this all the way around. I'd be shocked if he played in game 3, surprised if he played in game 4 and him playing the remainder of the series is in doubt.

If he can't come back by 5 at the latest, this series is over. They needed to hang on in this game because they don't have the size to withstand Clingan/Williams on the offensive glass and Avdija's getting to the rim. Kornet tops out at mid-high 20s minutes.

$20 million in expiring contracts between Olynyk and Sochan and a ton of 2nds, yet they refused to address third big with two flight risk C's and no PF and now its cost them.

If he didn’t break his jaw then he should’ve stayed in the game. Ridiculous that he got seen for a concussion, should never happen with a player of his caliber. Waste of time impediment to the next series
Not everybody has mastered the art of ignoring serious brain injuries tbh

Im fucking pissed. If we lost game 2 with Vic healthy, it’s an “oh well” thing. But an injury to him is just fucking pissing me off to a whole nother level right now.
Listen, I’m with you. Despite the rocky 1st quarter if Victor doesn’t go down, we win this game by 15 points. No doubt in my mind.

Concussions are no joke, you do not get over it immediately, and you might not see the full effects until later. You don't gamble with the health of your 22 y.o. franchise cornerstone while 1-0 up in the first round of the playoffs against the 7th seed you've beaten twice without him. Just nonsensical post.

He has to pass a subjective test to seem as ok as his baseline. hopefully everyone knows what’s at stake and he plays
