Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

This series isn't worth jeopardizing Wemby's health tbh. If there's even a chance he's not 100% even if he passes the concussion protocol don't play him. If the Spurs sans Wemby can't beat the Guests they weren't getting past the Nuggets or Thunder anyway.

Dude this wasn't Lamelo grabbing Bam's foot and flipping him over. Holiday pulled the chair to get Wemby off balance and he tripped over Jrue's foot. Shit happens. Nothing Holiday did was dirty, it was a regular foul not even worth a flagrant 1. Stop playing victim.
Yeah, nothing dirty in that at all. I haven't watched the replay, don't really want to go find it, but could Victor not have put his arms out? What was he doing during the fall? Where his arms caught up somewhere?

I agree with what you're saying, but I do watch UFC (I got into this late so I'm no expert) and those guys fight with concussions (probably not good for them long term), so if Victor is cleared, he should be OK IMO as it isn't a sport where you're getting hit in the head.

If it was a different type of injury where he could make it worse, I agree to not jeopardize anything long term, but I don't know, don't think I'd have a full-on concussion to know what it's like. Have any of you guys had one?

Concussions can legit lead to brain damage, especially if you get knocked in the head again while having one. There's a reason the awareness surrounding them has risen so much over the past 15 years tbh.

I knew something was wrong when I saw his reaction on the replay. It looked bad. Terrible way for it to unfold for him.

TP always used to say it's about the way you fall. You gotta fall sort of like a cat. Victor did not do that on this play as cats don't fall with their heads first. Vic's bag hurt him in that situation as if he was thinking more post up, he should either make a move to back him down, or learn to shoot over the top instead of trying to drive past a smaller guy in that congested space.
Wemby has to stop getting cute with his dribble. In the Pistons game he scored 38 points on 6 dribbles. There's no reason for him to dribble the ball around only to stumble and fall 50% of the time.

It seems a lot of people such as fighters have gotten away with it, or do you think a lot of them would be experiencing issues after they've retired?

I don't know what to say. Victor's game sometimes hurts him being that versatile.

Victor almost had an equally bad fall in game 1. He went to a similar dribble and spin move only to trip and fall on his back and almost whiplashed the back of his head onto the floor.

Agree he needs to keep it simple and tone down the dribbling and spins but it’s hard to tell a guy to play within himself being so amped up. But you have to be able to control yourself a bit better.

if Wemby can't get a shot off after 2 dribbles he needs to pass it. It's that simple. Trying to post up a guard starting at the 3-point line is not gonna work. You get inside position and ask for the ball instead.

This is stuff the coaching staff clearly cut out of his game early in the season and now he's reverting back to it.

Overuse injuries are understandable, but IT is so annoying how many freak incidents/ailments have befallen Wemby in his short career. Remember when he sprained his ankle after tripping into a Mavericks ball-boy during the warm-up. He barely made it to eligibility for his DPOY after a rib contusion on a stupid play only to get concussed the day after the announcement of his award win. It is beyond frustrating because other fanbases don't have to worry about this stuff with their franchise players except maybe Sixers fans with Embiid
That's just bad luck, he also avoided many serious injuries considering how opponents are being physical with him. And I don't see how other franchises don't have to worry about their franchise player, just a few names : Embiid like you said, but also Doncic and Cunningham who didn't reach the 65 game step, Tatum, SGA, Jokic, Durant, Sengun... They all have been injured this season.

Heal fast, young warrior .......the Paths are in front of you......and the glories to come..........

Ugh still makes me sad as fuck Junior Seau killed himself over CTE he got from concussions. Shot himself in the chest specifically so the brain damage he suffered in the NFL could be studied. So yeah I'm in no fucking hurry to rush Wemby back and if it costs the season so be it, his health is so much more important than a playoff run.

I'll have to look it up. I remember Junior Seau (sorry to hear that he's passed). I don't follow the NFL much these past 10-12 years. Didn't even know he killed himself. Was he really struggling because of it before his death?

seems like he didn't want to give up the ball and cause a turnover, which i admire the competitiveness but when you're falling fuck the ball, protect your head

For those who are refreshing, awaing for news, it is unlikely we will hear anything about Wemby game 3 until 2 days time. Wemby can't do any testing for 24 hours, and testing likely won't happen until the morning after. If Wemby passes the testing, he will need to get ticked off by a NBA official doctor. So that is in 2 days time. I doubt much will leak until then, other than a offical statement that Wemby is fine.

This team still isn't built to compete with those teams in a series because it's too heavily dependant on Wemby. We he goes out of the game, we pretty much turn to bottom of the league defense and a mid offense. We still need a solid stretch 4 who can defend bigs to take pressure off of him and a bonafide 3pt threat who's more consistent than Vassell (*although he's been much better this year.*) Going into a season hoping Vic doesn't get injured can't be your game plan to get you to the finals because history isn't starting off good for him yet.

From a goat legacy standpoint what will the effect of sitting out the rest of this series with a “concussion” be?
Nothing if they won’t clear him. That’s not on him. It’s not 1996 anymore. If these rules were in place when Michael Jordan played, he could scream all he wants, but the protocol is the protocol.

Maybe I am being too optimistic, but they should be able to win this series without him playing another game. Last night‘s blown lead was shameful. Fox bro that was some BS.

48 hours is short, even if he passes tests. I would be surprised if he plays Friday.

I agree that he doesn't need to be making many of those moves either. His career won't last long with out of control drives and post moves to the basket like those.
