Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

The hype is real. Spurs have to keep winning though. That's the only way he's going to have a real shot at being named MVP. Hopefully we can keep it rolling down the backstretch. Would also really help if OKC could drop a couple more games.

A quote from the nba.com MVP ladder article about SGA: "He’s shooting 72% over his last four games and has 30 or more points in 41 games, second to Dončić." That's really crazy ...
But yeah, there is definitely real WeMVP buzz in the media now, wonderful stuff!

I kind of feel like this is the NBA just doing their part to be spicy and add excitement to the MVP race in the homestretch and SGA is still a heavy favorite... but it's good to see

Wow i was surprised victor climbed up to number 1 in the latest MVP race. League really wanst him to win it. Spurs need a long winning streak for victor to win

Gilgeous-Alexander has the case and plays the role historically favored, but for whatever reason he doesn't captivate the masses, at least like Wembanyama.

It's so weird for the Spurs to be on the other side of this, but It seems like people are almost looking for a reason to give it to the latter. I still don't see it happening, but next season he'll likely be the overwhelming favorite and consensus best player by this time of the year.

I also like that the Spurs have got with the times and stopped shunning self promotion when given the opportunity by the media. It cost them in the past with things like Duncan DPOY and Ginobili All-Star selections. Even if they didn't care much or at all, the fans did and that should matter to the organization.

He would have to up his PPG imo tbh. Apparently offense is all that matters :st-lol:

It's ridiculous that we're in '26 and still supposed to rely on archaic things like ppg, as if it's '06.

If Wembanyama averaged 5 more mpg, he'd average high 20s ppg, but he'd be the same player with the same case.

I'm just loving the Laker and Thunder fan weep sessions re: Wemby MVP discourse tbh
