Player The Uncertainty Realm of the Improved Jumpshot of Jeremy Sochan

I have no idea why he signed with the Knicks instead of a tanking or middling team where he could have actually gotten some minutes tbh.

Has to be the case that there wasn't any tanking team that wanted him. Shooting has become such a basic skill in the league. No team has patience for a hitch-sufferer.

Which is why folks like Micheal Kids Gilchrist were pushed out of the league or guys like Markelle Fultz became irrelevant quickly too. The only ones who survived get spot minutes by being net positives on defense and playmaking like Slowmo Anderson. The Spurs tried to make Sochan into a player like that but that never panned out. And the scouting report was transparent enough for everyone to just ignore him.

Man, I really don't care about this guy anymore now that he's gone... but I did see a funny post elsewhere when a Knicks fan was asking about him... someone responded "he's a jack of all trades, he's just mediocre at all of them"

Mediocre is generous

Hard to believe that a team like Sacramento couldnt have give him a rest of season tryout tbh. I get not trading assets for him but he would have been a low risk roll of the dice + the added bonus of helping you tank :st-lol:

He really should have gone to a tanking team that would have given him minutes to see what he potentially has and don’t care about winning. He went from getting. I minutes on a team full of his friends and people he knew to not getting minutes on a team he didn’t know.

Of the teams rumored to be interested I thought Phoenix was the better fit, but he probably wanted to live in NY.

Seems to fit the overall impression that basketball is not his top priority.

Does anyone find it unusual that after high school, after a season of division 1 college basketball and 3 and a half seasons of professional ball, that Sochan still needs help on his shooting and free throw shooting ?

spurs failed him :st-cry:

It's not rocket science. Theres tons of information available on how to shoot better. Not to mention just practice. Whatever the reason, excuse or no excuse, you can't play at the highest level if you can't figure out how to shoot or at least find some way to contribute.

I'll believe in fixing his jumper when I see it fixed. In real games not practice. Multiple games in a row. So far it looks like rookie Mo Diawara has Carter Bryanted him to the bench again.
He got 1 minute in yesterdays win against Toronto tearing it up with playing time

I don't think he made a smart choice going to NY. Unless those NY guys can break down his shot and really help him fix it, he should have went somewhere else where he could have gotten more playing time. Maybe it ends up being the right call even if he doesn't get court time, but they can help him improve his shot, it might be worth it, but I'm thinking he should have tried to go to a lesser team where he could have possibly had some more minutes.

I thought Phoenix was the obvious fit, maybe even Chicago. NY is a head scratcher especially when they already have Mitch Robinson there who gets decent minutes and the two cannot be on the court together.

Diawara killed us last game. I don't see a world where Sochan outplays him in the rotation this season or ever tbh.

Him playing a lot of minutes on a bad team right now with a broken jumper will only make things worse for him, and concretize the current narrative. I think if he is actually somehow miraculously able to fix his jump shot while not playing could help him to sign on with a team next season. Possibly the Knicks as they will know. If the knicks don't resign him then he'll have to figure things out as a walk on and prove himself in the chaos of Summer League, I'm guessing.

He honestly should have gone to OKC if they would have had him if only to work with Chip. Chip is the only person in the league that can save his NBA career.
