Friendship crew apology topic

Absolute apologies to Keldon. I always liked him as a person, was very happy to have him around as a pure towel waiver but I literally didn't want him to play a single meaningful minute this season unless injury. I wanted all his time to go to Oly, Champ, Castle/Harper, and the possibility that Sochan could recoup his value. I know KJ's spent the last couple yrs transiting to the bench guy, but how on earth did he become a absolutely elite rebounder and one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA. Dude's 21st in Reb%, 15th in OReb% which has won us several games, 13th in TS%, 11th in WS/48! He should be the 6MOY right now and he's long been the heart of the team.

I was never out on Vassell, just very frustrusted by his play style/tunnel visions/dribble-dribble-dribbles but saw a pretty easy path to being a very good #4/#5 if he could just learn and play within that role. Didn't expect his insane turn around on D-intensity, but that dude has been a great role player this yr.
Was very slim on Sochan, wanted to increase his value for someone else. I can easily see him becoming a productive role player in the NBA, but about 0 chance that's in SA and I don't want to tender a QO, and I can't believe he doesn't seemed to have matured at all while KJ and DV all done 180*s with their on the court play/effort/limiting themselves to their role.

My apologies. Hope we trade Sochan for anything of value and give him a shot to turn it around, but I'm done with him. Dude acts like a clown, 0 maturity + a bad fit. He also doesn't seem to be nearly as "friendshipy" as the other two.

I love this accountability thread! Yes, I've been a Devin hater, Friendship crew despiser and still down on the Sochan.
BUT, things have changed. The new coaches and staff are working some long overdue magic and have created great roles for Devin and Keldon. They are responding admirably and their is little that winning doesn't repair. Apologies tendered for the snarky, judgmental and masochistic remarks I've made in the past. The new framework for this team is just in its infancy, and that is so exciting!

Other than Keldon turning into a complete psycho Devin’s defense is the real surprise out of all this. He knows how to shoot and was going to naturally get phased out of the creation on offense (in a good way). But him devoting that kind of energy on the other half of the court is a huge leap. And maybe he could eventually be a 27 mill guy if he chills and learns how to manage an offense from our guards. But again - his money doesn’t matter whatsoever today so we can just enjoy the show.

I was dogging Keldon, even as he put up good preseason stats. Happy to eat crow now.
Having a real coach with real schemes and a real focus on winning has done wonders for these guys. Props to them!

They're still not perfect of course, but they're doing all you can ask of them. For both, developing consistent 3pt shots has been huge. KJ has improved his decision making, and Vassell is showing consistent effort on both ends.

The biggest change, imo, has been that these guys final have competent talent to play alongside them, which is giving them breathing room to settle into roles that match their talent level. Neither have to do too much now that they have Wemby, Fox, Castle, Harper, etc doing what they do out there every night.

Keldon I didn’t think he’d get better but never wanted to hear him traded purely because of his heart. He’s improved so much this year by narrowing his role that I’m just ecstatic about it.

Vassell I wanted him traded last year. Never thought he’d turn from a ball stopping dribbler to a quick trigger shooter who plays d.

Sochan is the biggest disappointment. Just lost everything over the summer. Even things he could do. The swagger is gone, the hustle is gone.
