Player The Uncertainty Realm of the Improved Jumpshot of Jeremy Sochan

I would’ve traded Sochan for Will Purdue today never mind 30 years ago when he was in his prime. Sochan can dye his hair orange and green and star in whatever musical they got on broadway.

Mods can we finally move this thread to the NBA forum. No reason to have it in the Spurs section.

I can see the fit from a team culture perspective, but from a depth perspective, this is an atrocious fit, unless he has a big game in the first two games, he is likely to see a lot of bench.

I think they signed him and Jose Alvarado for toughness against Detroit. Say what you want about Jeremy, but dude isn’t afraid to fight.

Happy for him, wish him the best. He has been part of Spurs rebuilt afterall. He hopefully can get some minutes at NY and don't go to the dark side in a city where opportunities to party are infinite. It seems kid has some mental issue to deal with and I don't think NY is the best city for that but again let's hope for the best.

There's a good Polish community in NY, particularly Brooklyn. He may find some cultural support and joy to help him overcome his adversities and develop resilience.

I wish him well. lol at thinking he does not practice to develop. sometimes its just not enough against more talented people.
The guys who practice develop. He is measurably worse than he was two years ago. Attribute that to whatever you'd like. The reality doesn't change.

Sochan might start some shit but this gonna be him when Isaiah Stewart walks over

Glad he’s going to the East. I’d hate facing him 3-4 times in the regular season and playoffs series. Say what you want, Sochan can be a pest at defense.

...Who clearly doesn't practice to develop his game despite massive resources to help him improve.
This is an awful and completely unfounded opinion.

No one has ever questioned his work ethic.

There’s no guarantee that putting in work will make you better. You hope it does but sometimes people peak skill wise or the fit is bad. There’s all kinds of reasons.

I completely understand why we moved on but it’s baffling why some use that as an excuse to shit on him.

No. Practice does not come with a promise of further development. Not for everyone.

If that were true all his practice at PG would have made him a starter at the 1.

For some guys they can put in all kinds of work in the bedroom. Pound away, lick it till your tongue hurts. But if you’re not big enough to hit the spot no amount of practice changes that.

Not sure what you're smoking. People here have questioned his work ethic. We made fun of his Instagram posts.

There's no guarantee that putting in work makes you better, but it will damn sure give you the confidence to shoot when open. He was reduced to passing up wide open shots even when the defense dared him to shoot, and that's what cost him his spot in the rotation.

Again, his numbers have declined. He was better his rookie season than he has been this year. And he was passing up shots.

Not sure why some think pointing out reality is shitting on him. I'm a Baylor fan. Nobody was happier to see him drafted by the Spurs than I was.

Yeah, like I said. Questioning his work ethic with no real evidence.

How dare someone have a personality or do something in their free time or guys on the internet will jump to absurd conclusions.

Here you are posting on a message board.

I guess you don’t have a work ethic. See how stupid that sounds.

This team is completely different than his rookie season. He’s worse in the context of this team. He may not even be an NBA player going forward. Who knows.

But until there is real evidence that he wasn’t doing what the team asked of him I think it’s petty and childish to assume differently because he makes TikTok videos or has a certain hairstyle.

Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion too.

The strawmen you brought with you are entertaining. I never had a problem with his personality. Or his hairstyle. Or the fact that he...gets on the internet? I'm a Baylor fan. I like him. I wanted him to succeed here. He's a good kid. He always was. He didn't start at Baylor. That didn't make sense four years ago. It does now, at least to me.

His inability to TAKE an open three is what finally made me decide that he's not useful on this team.

Carter Bryant, warts and all, is working his way into the rotation. He's surpassed Sochan. Again, the reason seems pretty plain to me.
