People love to say that they want their players to come in and not be selfish and play within a system in a way that leads to team success, but it seems that some of you would prefer that Fox plays in a selfish manner in order to get better stats regardless of the team winning. There's a lot of talk here as though De'Aaron is playing badly or somehow worse than he has previously, but is that really whats happening?
Well, he is below 20 ppg for only the 3rd time in his career and the first time since his 2nd year in the league, which tends to agree with that. He's also an assist lower than his career high, although that is pretty much at his career average.
But is that pretty much it?
He's at his 2nd lowest turnovers per game mark at 2.5 and his TO/36mins are the exact same as the season he got MVP votes. His shooting is improved. His DBPM is the highest of his career (So is his D-LEBRON). He's at his 2nd highest true shooting percentage.
He's also at his HIGHEST percentage of 2 point FGs that are assisted at 32%. He's never had about a third of his 2 pointers come off of someone else's creation. This tells you that he's operating way more off ball than he has in the past which is also supported by the 3rd lowest usage in his career.
Like honestly why are people saying shit about Fox? I would understand if the Spurs were struggling, but they are way beyond all expectations and while his PPG are lower, the numbers he's putting up are perfectly fine and he's doing it more efficiently than he normally has throughout his career while playing better defense than most of his career.
The bitching around here towards some players and the coach is borderline insane given how much this team is out performing preseason expectations.
