If he can translate his game and give us even 50% of Devin's output for 2% of the cost I know which one I'm keeping. He's the shiny new thing we can project our hopes onto while simultaneously using him to frame our criticism of Devin. Sounds good!
Does he? Maybe. To me, he's Anthony Tolliver, but his jumper is more legit. He didn't have to go on a freak hot streak to get signed. He got the vibes of Jonathan Simmons or Lonnie Walker. But is much stable and consistent.
I think he might be more reliable than KJ or Vassell if these 2 decide to go cold.
There are too many players ahead of him for him to play much right now. He's going to register a lot of dnp nights on the main Squad but it won't be because he's not good. It's because of Spurs have a lot of guys ahead of him that are also still developing and those guys are more important. But he seems like a good teammate and when you add that to his ability to have a great situation when it comes to depth. He was the best player for both teams down the stretch and there were like three first round draft picks out there.
It seems the coaching staff wants to see more facilitation from him. That's where his future will be. Otherwise his skillset is looking for his shot and attacking although I'm not sure he'll get those chances in the big league. Clearly he's a gamer, but can he be effective in short stops off the bench, or will it be like tonight where he requires a lot of time and touches to get going?
Unless Ike 4 guys go down they’re never going to put a two way contract guy in the rotation. This was also against the end of bench guys from last year’s worst NBA team.Damn! This kid can hoop and not scared of the situation. Easily the best player out there down the stretch, and very much a fan favorite. I’d be thrilled to have him getting the last rotation spot. Already a fan.
It's not even about regular rotation, it's about having competent third stringers because load management has never been more prominent and a lot of injuries happen.Unless Ike 4 guys go down they’re never going to put a two way contract guy in the rotation. Sean was commenting that it was good that he was finishing at the cup, since he bumbled most of those opportunities in the earlier games.
I agree with everything you said, and if he had put it that way,I would have thrown him a like, but he said rotation, and in Spurs terminology, that means top 8 players. It's not even about regular rotation, it's about having competent third stringers because load management has never been more prominent and a lot of injuries happen.
Obviously it's way too early to tell, but Flagler/Waters/DJG look like an upgrade to Wesley/Branham, that's all we need from them.
DJG has a lot of room for improvement, if he can establish himself as the fifth guard behind Fox/Harper/Castle/Devin, it would be a huge win for both him and the Spurs.
