Effective creators are the ignition to an offense.
You can have the best shooters and finishers in the world on your team, but they’re nothing without good creators.
With a guard rotation that’s deep and talented like that, playmaking should not skip a beat.
The way I view it, the need for a wing like Vassell who is a shot creator is so much less necessary.
For the SF spot, the team should focus on finding one note shooters like Champagnie with acceptable defense. I think as Barnes ages, he will move down a position and would be a decent backup to Champagnie.
The PF spot is a little different. I think this spot requires more utility, more skills & more use. Guys who provide multiple things, such as hustle, rebound, defending, finishing, shooting. Doesn’t need to be all of those things, but the more, the better. Keldon fits this mold very well. Barnes right now does too, since he is able to shoot and finish inside (the latter part might not last long).
I don’t know where the fuck Carter fits between SF (because he can’t shoot) or PF (because he doesn’t know how to play basketball) right now. Hopefully they can draft someone for the PF spot, as that is a greater need. I’m no longer honing in on unrealistic dreams like Caleb Wilson, and looking at guys like Koa Peat or Karim Lopez. The next guy at this spot just needs to have a wide skillset, not someone who only shoots.
