Player The Burgeoning 3&D American Sign Language Consulate of Carter Bryant

I think we'll get our first indication within the next 48 hours. Lindy and Bismack deals get fully guaranteed on Jan 7. Whether or not they are still on the roster on the 8th might tell us something about Brian's plans.
If this was done, would it be after the Lakers game or before the Lakers game that they would do it? I assume the Spurs will need players on the roster for the next two games.

If I understand correctly, they must be released by EOD today... but the language is a little confusing:

This is from Spotrac's article:

It’s a busy transaction period in the NBA for the next month. On Monday, January 5, teams can begin signing players to 10 Day contracts. With nearly half of the league having an open roster spot, we put together a list of callup candidates to watch.

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday, February 5. We’ll have plenty of deadline-related content coming for you over the next month.

Later this week, another important deadline lands on the NBA calendar. On Saturday, January 10, all NBA contract become fully guaranteed…kind of. In reality, these deals will fully guarantee on Wednesday, January 7. This is because players have to clear waivers before January 10. In order for players to have their 48 hours on waivers, they have to be waived by January 7.

Got all that? Good! Now, we’re going to go through each of the 30 players who have a guarantee-decision to be made and give a projection on what we think is going to happen.

A couple of notes:

  • We aren’t covering two-way players here. They also become fully guaranteed if not waived on January 7. But since there are no cap/tax/apron impacts, teams aren’t shy about waiving guaranteed two-way players after the guarantee date.
  • The salary listed is how much the player will become fully guaranteed for, if not waived on January 7.
I highlighted two parts here... one says "by Jan 7" and the other says "On Jan 7"... so... who knows. You'll see when you start seeing dudes getting waived.

Trust that the guard whisperer will fix CB!
I wonder how long he's been training with him (if he just started this season)?

OK, cool. I guess we will find out soon enough. I'm guessing it has to be on January 7th.

I think he means, fix his overall game. I don't think SP9 was only talking about shooting. His form looks fine, but he needs refinements in the rest of his game on offense and hopefully TGW can help get him there.

The exact rule is that the player must clear waivers before January 10th.

If player is cut on January 7th before 4pm CT, he will clear waivers on January 9th 4pm CT and so his contract won't be guaranteed.

Is 5p ET on the 9th the end of the league day that players need to be cleared by in order to have cleared waivers "before January 10th"? Or is it 11:59:59 on Jan 9?

Players clear waivers only 1 time per day (at 5pm ET) and they must stay at least 48 hours on waivers.

For example, if a player is waived on January 7th at 6 pm ET, he will clear waivers on January 10th 5pm ET.

Excellent explanation that answers it, thank you. So all these guys need to be waived by tomorrow 5p ET.
