Player The blessed howl's moving Castle of Stephon Javonte

Gilbert said Castle's trainer flew down to San Antonio to "reintroduce" him to what they worked on during the summer.

Nice. Wemby could use an ASB visit to Hakeem's farm in Houston to "reintroduce" some concepts as well now that he's had half a season to work on it. Sadly it'd be "bad optics" to do it in-season, stupid as it may be.

This video has some of the big dunks by Castle over the last few games....

Somehow seeing these "violent" dunks made me subconsciously reminded of Zion and D-Rose landing after their "violent" dunks as well....

I am not an expert on jumping and landing mechanics....I hope Castle's landing are okay for him....?

Zion and Rose had different issues. Zion is a fucking hippopotamus, and is constantly injured because he’s heavy and plays above the rim. Rose was just a little guy playing above the rim, constantly. He has to exert more force to dunk, and has a longer drop to land. Ja has the same style of play, and the same chronic injury issues.

No wonder....the timing matched with Castle sudden usage of the short pull up jumper near the rim.

He was working on it with guard whisperer over the summer and seems to have forgotten about it lol. :st-lol:

Maybe KG and Hakeem should pay Wemby a visit too
I rather Wemby sits with Timmy and anchors the team, instead of forcing shots like KG would

And I love The Dream. But I rather Wemby be more Defensive like DRob than trying to be like Hakeem. I’m not saying Hakeem is not defensive, nor not study the Dream Shake, but Wemby needs to get NBA stronger, and often times forced his shots, while there is better options in the guard offense. I feel Wemby likes to break people’s ankles, instead of quietly winning like Timmy did without much hoopla. Sure Timmy is boring but won 5 titles and the team never missed the playoffs under his steady watch, is all.

KG averaged just 1 more FGA during their primes, which is nothing considering he had way worse supporting casts.

tbh KG willingly become the "3rd wheel" once he landed in Boston. KG had higher assists number than Timmy as well. So I don't think KG was forcing shots

I still believe Harper has a higher ceiling than Castle BUT Castle is doing everything for me to eat a crow tbh... what a spectacular performance. He had a rough patch of games but he is back to his beginning of the season self. It seems his left thumb sprain is a thing of the past. If he could convert a bit more those 3s, being more regular on the FT line and clean up those TOs (the last 2 are clearly on his reach)... watch out he could become a Kawhi with elite passing. His capacity to defend all positions plus an elite offensive game would anchor the Spurs as top contender for the next 10 years

Having Cassell, Marbury, Sprewell, Joe Smith, Szczerbiak, Gugliotta, Sam Mitchell… I’d argue Timmy would ring with these guys. It’s how you make your teammates better and allows them to be at their best. Timmy never try to force shots, nor outshines his teammates. He didn’t need to take the winning shot like a KG, Kobe, MJ would. Defensively Wemby is the best already. He needs to realize that maybe the 3-guard offense is better now that he’s still not post-dominant, is all my argument going to Timmy instead of KG.

Yeah, that trope of KG had no supporting cast needs to die. Three of those guys were All Stars when they played with KG, and others at different times. Tim led a group probably worse than KGs worst team to a title in 2003: no shooting Parker, injured half season rookie Manu, broken down David, and a bunch of other dudes.

Noone is saying that KG was in the same tier as Duncan, I just don't think he was a chucker.

Anyone saying (or implying) KG was a chucker didn't watch KG, dude should've been more selfish a lot of those years. I'm as big a TD fan as there is but the gap as a basketball player between the two was way closer than most of us want to admit. As a leader and a foundational building block? Tim clears KG by leaps and bounds.

Also, not personally into Wemby linking up with KG but ultimately its whatever. I will also admit if you put KG's basketball mind into Wemby's body he would probably be even more insane on defense if that can be imagined.

In ClutchFans, they started talking Caslte vs Reed and eneded up on Castle vs Amen :st-lol:

Folks in there doing mental gymnastics to try and convince themselves that 3rd year Amen is still better than sophomore Castle. I'm only gonna say this: if there's one more injury to the West all-stars, I have a very strong feeling that the next in line to get in is Stephon, tbh.
Thanks for this link. Also fun to read Rockets fans talking about how it must be nice to have good coaching, like the Spurs.

Is there any team that doesn't complain about their coach?

He's flawed 21-yo sophomore, but hard to question this kid's heart especially when he's wrecking havoc off-ball and on D.
Really glad to see him going to turnarounds and light fadeaways in the paint which are also amazing shots when the defense is loading up against Steph bulling to the basket. Definitely see a lot of SGA developing in Steph's game.

I only meant why go seeking KG and Hakeem, while you have Timmy and DRob in the house? Wemby can learn a lot to be patient like Timmy while anchoring the defense like DRob. I get the impression he rather break ankles, do the dream shake, fade away shots. Why not learn the sky hook? It’s not sexy but unguardable. But he likes Curry’s shots from the logo, Crawford’s handles. Pop always preached substance over style, nothing fancy just get it in the hole. I enjoy the occasional dunks and all. But by the end of the day, I prefer Wins

My favorite post in there is that one guy comparing Castle to a 6'6 Rondo as if it was a bad thing. :st-lmao:
And the comparison is not even close, tbh.

Wemby is never going to have the kind of strength Tim used to just bull motherfuckers on the left block every possession. His ridiculous stride still makes him deadly off Dream Shake pivots though like he was using to cook AD in Game #1 before he started getting doubled and tripled on the catch. So he can still be a low post threat, just not a guy you're riding on block 40 minutes a night in the playoffs. However I think Wemby is at his best used as a Divac/Garnett hybrid getting the ball in the high post and finding cutters but unlike Divac also being a huge threat to attack the basket off the dribble or off the lob if his defender gets a step in the wrong position. Or to raise up for the KG like jumper that no one can really contest. I'd really prefer if the three was limited to open shots as the trailer on the break and the occasional pick and roll if his man can't fight over the screen and they don't switch. Definitely don't like Wemby dribbling to attack from the three point line like Durant, don't think he's ever going to have the tight handles KD does. One or two dribbles max.

I don't have any information or hints about anything... but maybe Timmy and DRob aren't interested in doing this? It does take two to tango...

I think Wemby should add a mid range from the elbows like Robinson did when we added Duncan. David was able to float to the top or elbow of the key face up and shoot. People forget how mobile the admiral was before the back issues late in his career.

I still like Wemby playing more like LMA but he doesn't have the weight.

baselinebums also gets a name check... hi ClutchFans! Your members are right. Each of Wemby, Castle and Harper ARE better than Sengun, Amen and Sheppard, both individually and collectively! Enjoy!

Amen is almost 2 YEARS OLDER than Castle, also Amen's shooting is irredeemable, Castle is bad but still could improve. I'd say physically Amen is unmatched, but in terms of his defensive impact Steph is close, and I like his chances of improving as a shooter much more. Those factors make a difference in his favor IMO.
