Game Thread Spurs vs Jazz (Fri 10/10/25) [7:00PM CDT]

They're emphasizing the "high five" follow through after a block...
Why is this a thing? That was a clean block by Victor. I don't understand this rule. If you get the ball "clean" first, how is it a foul? People have mentioned Victor didn't get a block, but as far as I'm concerned, this was a block.

Edit : What is the Eddie Jones story? It's fake? I used to be a fan of his back in the day. I hope he's OK.

Jesus that contest Carter Bryant had with his hand above the square. That motherfucker got hops.

They changed it so "high five" contests are called as fouls now. Mostly because of some dirty players like Brooks intentionally hitting shooters on every contest.
But if the defender gets the ball first, it just can't be a foul.

Thanks. I hope it's not called a foul if the defender gets the ball first cleanly. That's just taking away great defense. If Dillon Brooks is intentionally hitting shooters, just suspend his ass. No need to take away great defense because of his dirty play (as I'm typing typing this, I feel a bit dirty due to being the biggest Bruce Bowen fan ;) ). Can't the NBA let their referees differentiate between a clean block and an intentional foul?

Man, Carter has some insane athleticism. If he can harness all that and play sound defense with it, he really will be a monster on that end of the court. I just hope he can be good on offense too if he keeps working at it. I'm willing to be very patient with him on offense if he can keep improving there bit by bit, but would love to have him out there his rookie season for defense.

Any good replay sites guys?

Full game replays.
(I don't think copyright strikers care about replay sites as much as they do about streaming links.)

Thanks good Sir......

Well…Harper changes everything for me. I’m adding 3-4 wins and don’t have any question about play-in.

He’s ridiculous. Will possibly be one of the top guards in the league coming off the bench. This year. And I’m probably going to want him to start a week into the season. But at the same time he deserves his own unit. If Keldon can somehow make it work with this dude, I can’t believe I’m seeing a real team here.

CB11 is so mature and poised for an 18YO. Classic spur. Can’t believe he fell to us at 14

Harper’s chemistry with Kornet is undeniable.

CB11 is still over-thinking and deferring too much. He's obviously young and finding his way. One observation is that he can be bricking all night and when the game is on the line he just shoots with no hesitation and has made some ballsy clutch shots. That tells me he will get comfortable and eventually just let it fly. Defensively, I love what I see. His head is on a swivel, his weak-side angles are perfect, when he gets beat he recovers as fast as anyone I've ever seen. Offensively, I see his decision-making and passing as on point. He blends in well. His Bball IQ is high.

Harper is one cool-ass MFer. No wasted motion. He's already a highly serviceable pro. He's definitely a Cade-like player. He will thrive in the ball-movement schemes that we are seeing early on. He should be able to play with anyone. Already throwing great lobs. Psyched to see more out of him.

Wemby's passing has taken an upturn. The Beautiful game might be back. His creativity and unusual angles are wild to see. That behind the back pass that Keldon bobbled was elite.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Castle, Fox and Sochan integrate into the lineups.

I'm loving how the new players are really blending together well. It looks like there is some cohesion between the FO and the coaches in the personnel choices. That's a relief!

So far, it looks like this draft class is very strong. Bailey looks like a bucket. The ROY race will be fun to watch.

Replay Notes

Kornet is going to be crucial for us this year
Twin Towers New Version starting on the right foot
Maestro Dylan is really smooth, a cool operator.....still convinced he is the apex predator archetype of Ricardo Brown of the Phils
Keldon optically good.....hmm, perhaps we give him another chance
Might be the starting five could be: Wemby, Barnes, Champagnie, Fox and Vassell

Did anyone notice there were a lot of tap or touch passes in this game? I wonder if that was a point of emphasis. Something the great TD21 used to do.

People in this thread said CB is on the same level as the two way/camp scrubs...some people just don't have an eye for talent. Obviously, he's raw offensively but he's as athletic as anyone on this team, has a legit NBA body already, and - more importantly- has shown the poise of a player beyond his years.

It couldn't be more obvious he belongs. Just needs more time for his game to cook in the oven to be a major contributor.

Really like the double big lineup with Kornet tbh. Such a high IQ guy, night and day from Bassey/Zollins/etc.

I'm still in awe of the transformation from last year's squad.
Collins to Kornet
Tre to Harper
Wesley to Bryant
Branham to Waters
Bassey to Olynyk
While adding Fox and retaining all of our contributors. Huge upgrades at every position. It was a LONG time coming, but, to do all that in the span of under one year is formidable.

Changes since last season's opening night.

CP3->Fox
Tre->Harper
Wesley->DJG
Branham->Waters
Duke Jr->McLaughlin
Sidy->Flagler
Mamu->Bryant
Collins->Olynyk
Bassey->Kornet

Too soon to tell in some cases, but that could very well be 8 upgrades.
Third string upgrades aren't irrelevant because we were horrible whenever Wesley/Branham had to play and Bassey couldn't stay healthy.

So far through two gams Ace Bailey looks like the real deal. I can see him giving Flagg a challenge for ROY. Don’t think Harper will get the massive PT of Flagg and Bailey to be in contention.

The excitement is growing, but I have to see this in real games where players are trying to win, and the 2nd half isnt played by guys who will either be in the Dleague or overseas this season.

Think we still start the year slowly but get better by mid-season.
