Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Its too bad the Suns are playing so well because Dillon Brooks would be the perfect fit at on paper. Not sure he would have fit the culture but still.
What culture? He works hard on both ends and is a good teammate. What do you think the mismatch is, especially considering guys like Bowen and Sochan being “spurs guys”?

Brooks would make this team meaningfully better and if he’s like your 6th/7th most important guy, go let him troll all he wants.

…but they aren’t going to trade him

I tend to agree actually. What has Brooks done that so horrible besides talking some shit? He's not Ja Morant. Sucks the Suns are playing so well.

He likes to run his mouth (remember "poke the bear"?), but I agree it's been waaaay overstated. He's a good player and I'd take him on the Spurs in a heartbeat.

Yeah he no worse the S-Jax and isn't anywhere near Dennis Rodman. It's been so overstated as you said.

He’s cringey. But also very obviously on the spectrum, for what it’s worth. The footage of him at home during the Netflix Olympics documentary was pretty enlightening. He’s just a very very irregular guy who seems to act in earnest. He’s just very annoying.

Why does it suck that the Suns are playing well? Don't we want them to win so the Rockets don't get a high draft pick? Or do you not want them to keep winning as the Spurs may end up having to face them in the playoffs? It kind of looks like they have our number, but we haven't really played them at full strength yet to see how the Spurs really match up with them.

I made mention here that Olynyk and Waters for Klay is a clean fit.
I wouldn't mind that trade at all. Spurs really need shooting and I'd be very interested to see how Klay does with the open looks Victor and the guards would get him. He could be a difference maker in a deeper playoff run.

Edit: Another reason I'd really like him, the young guys are like sponges and love to learn. Who knows, maybe they can get some shooting tips from him and improve their own shooting with him just being on the team. He might closer to washed, but I really wouldn't mind getting him. I always respect a high level shooter such as Klay. I really like Lindy too. He's a good shooter, but I don't think the rest of his game is as good as Klay's. Klay has a ton of big game experience too that could help teach the young guys in the playoffs how to handle it.

If we have a plan for the open roster spot then I'd be good with it too. We'd need to replace Olynyk with a guy who's at least a 4/5 and we could waive Biyombo and add a Bassey type big depending on what we do with that first open spot. With okc falling apart because they are getting killed on the boards I believe this is looking like the time to push things forward.

Who says no?

WAS: Young
SAS: Bilal (hurt currently)
ATL: Middleton + Olynk + return 27FRP (top 4 protected)

Also works with Sochan instead of KO but I think that would change the protections for me (Top 10).
I say no. Bilal has majorly regressed from his rookie season. I want more than an iffy project for that ATL pick.

We need rebounding and wing defense, Klay offers none.
He'd help with our shooting struggles, but he's under contract for another season and earns way too much for his current production.

Hows this for a trade
Bucks get Olynyk and a 2026 second rounder from spurs - they may want more but they are getting salary cap relief next year as well
Pels get Bobby Portis, Jeremy Sochan + 2026 second rounder from spurs via NO or Portland + 2030 2nd round pick from spurs via Cleveland - not a bad return for a bad team
Spurs get Herb Jones and Saddiq Bey

Bucks get a 2nd rounder and Olynyk and are off Olynyk's salary next year
Pels get 2 2nd round picks plus Portis & Sochan
Spurs get Jones & Bey, 2 players who can help the spurs in what they really need - defense and 3 point shooting.

Salaries work, its just that Jones can't be traded till next week.

ESPN has an article with needs and trade ideas for every team, and I found ours interesting: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...t-east-west-contenders-top-teams-bucks-lakers

Pelton suggests Jaylen Wells from MEM. I would dig this, but it would further complicated a crowded wing situation and I don't know why MEM would do this.
Jaylen Wells would be a great addition for us. He’d help on both sides of the court, but, there might not be enough of a role for home here. It would push CB down a notch or into the G league when Vassell returns. If there was a way to flip KO, Sochan, Waters and a FRP for Wells & Aldama, that would give us a lot of lineups and more shooters for the POs. Memphis needs to pick a lane.

Pels aren't moving Herb for that, but the Bucks would be all over that and I think Olynyk would actually play well by Giannis.

You had me until you said Herb and Bey.
We're not getting Herb without a FRP.

I'd offer Sochan + 2 SRPs for Bey.
Since moving into the starting lineup Bey is averaging 17/7 with 511EFG over 19 games. He has one year left on his deal making 6.5M. Pels should let him cook for the rest of the season and trade him in the summer for a first round pick if they cant get one at the deadline.

That said I would trade the Hawks 2026 pick swap top four protected for Bey with Sochan as matching salary. Great fit and contract plus we'd get him for two playoff runs.

I wouldn't give a 1st this year... I like him and might give a future lottery protected 1st that converts to a couple 2nd"s if it doesn't convey.

I still think at least one of Bey or Jones gets moved, as well as Portis and Sochan. Its just a matter of time. Hopefully the spurs just don't dump Sochan for a protected 2nd rounder in 2031 or later. He's got to be more valuable than that to some team.

Sacramento and Washington have pretty bad front offices, can we fleece one of them - again ?

This is a lot more reasonable. A top 4 protected 26 is way too rich for me.

A couple other teams (Bucks and Minny) are also sniffing around Trae. I don't see how Milwaukee can get it done, but Minnesota can. Unless the Hawks want Gobert or Randle the package would have to be centered around McDaniel who's kinda redundant with JJ. I wonder if we could get in on that using Olynyk and Sochan + maybe their 2026 back?
