Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Think the answer for this season is going to be acquiring a defensive-minded big and just starting Wemby at the 4 tbh. Just don't see any PF upgrades out there worth the cost.

me everytime the PF trade subject comes up and i dont want to just keep repeating the same name over and over

Moving Wemby to PF would make our offense and defense worse and only exacerbate our third string C issues.

His appeal is hes young, ascending very well on offense and more versatile there than Barnes or KO or Sochan. While still maintaining solid defensive ability and his cost should be notably cheaper than most other options discussed.
I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but I have to ask... what is ascending about him? And I ask that seriously because I realize statistics only tell part of the story... but the stats don't really paint a picture of ascension for me.

His TS% is roughly around his career average but he's shooting 40% from the field and 33% from 3, his TRB% is at a career low, his BLK% is at a career low, his TOV% is at a career high, his ORTG and DRTG are trending in the wrong direction from his rookie year (career worst DRTG despite BKN being a pretty good defensive team). His PPG has seen a nice jump, but so has his USG%.

So... how is he ascending? What versatility does he provide? A 6'10" guy shooting 40% from the field and only averaging 5.0 REB/36 seems really bad... but again, I don't watch his games.

It’s all good! I think you just have to watch him. To me, it’s not nearly a slam dunk move like Murphy etc..it’s someone Im seeing some pretty nice flashes from when you watch. Moments you wish you would have seen from Sochan for example (offensively) that happen more frequently for Noah.

But ya, hes not some star and theres still warts. But that’s part of the cost etc..

If we get him for a fake SRP to help facilitate some other deal where we send out an expiring like Bismack, to help someone clear a little bit of salary next year, I'd be excited that we're taking a flyer, at least!

A boring trade target for Spurs would be DFS. He would be a good fit with the rest of the roster and his contract is fine with only 2 guaranteed years left ($12.7M this season and $13.3M in 26-27).

With picks to match. LAC got Collins for their own SRP, so flipping the the Utah SR pick could work. Maybe nullify the Dallas swap for Christie.

first you had my curiosity, now you have my erection

kidding aside, i wouldnt want to move HB despite his recent struggles. i have faith in him bouncing back and i want him back on a cheaper mutliyear deal

He only provides one thing, shooting, and that’s been really spotty for weeks. He can’t defend or rebound his position.

I think he is under contract till 2029. But beside this, do you see Rockets trade a player to the Spurs?

MIN supposedly open to trading Dillingham.

While I still contend we should have gotten more for the #8 pick, it has all worked out and we clearly won that trade. Add MIN to the list of teams I want to continue trading with (SAC, CHI, TOR already at the top of that list). How do we make this happen?

At what point do we think MEM would be willing to listen to offers on Aldama? I still contend he is the budget Lauri we need... and he's in the first year of a declining 3/52.

He's eligible to be traded starting 1/15.

Clowney is an interesting name and one I've thought of, but to this point he's been injury prone and more theoretical 3 and D than actual. Meaning, he's high volume, but low percentage, as well as a terrible rebounder and rim protector.

The Nets also have a lot of picks, so no incentive to trade him unless someone overpays.

I know hes older and POR is playing well, but anyone for Jerami Grant?
I've always liked Jerami Grant, but his contract number is pretty big (and 3 more years) and in my opinion is one of those guys that unless we are going to reconfigure the pecking order of our offense, you'd kind of be overpaying for the role he'd play on our team.

We currently have a starting unit that looks like this, in terms of USG%

Wemby - 32.3
Fox - 27.0
Castle - 26.0
Vassell - 18.8
Barnes - 15.7

Kornet is only at 10.6 when he plays instead of Wemby, which is kind of what allows the rest of the guys season averages to creep up.

So, the question I always have when we talk about guys like Grant (or even TMIII) - unless you are moving someone out... where is their USG going to come from? Grant is at 24.9 this year. TMIII is at 21.7 (which is kind of impressively low, tbh).

So I always operate under the initial assumption that the Spurs are not looking to completely change the pecking order of the offense, which means that if Vassell isn't being moved out you need someone who can thrive in that 15% USG range. I believe Grant (and TMIII) could certainly do it, but then you're paying a lot for a guy who is under-utilized. Honestly, we're kind of paying Vassell too much for his role already (but we can afford to for now). I think for the 4th and 5th guy in the starting lineup, $1MM per point of USG is probably about right.
