Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Have there been any indications that Okongwu is available? His name gets tossed around a lot here but I don't see why ATL would be moving him.

Its too bad the Suns are playing so well because Dillon Brooks would be the perfect fit at on paper. Not sure he would have fit the culture but still.

He's on my ever growing list of Never Spurs... but I do agree his the kind of player that we could use!
I recently had a discussion which sounds absolutely crazy, but is Dillon Brooks more valuable to his teams that current KD?

Obviously nowhere near his ability as a basketball player, but it can't be denied that every team Brooks was on always played hard and had great locker room atmoshpere, regardless of his antics towards his opponents.
Meanwhile, everywhere KD went he eventually brought everyone down and everyone was relieved after he left. Happened in Golden State, Brooklyn and Phoenix.
Now that KD has declined with age, I'm not sure he adds more value to the team than Brooks because the Suns effectively traded 1:1 since Green is injured and Maluach isn't in the rotation yet.

Spurs are in a somehow similar Situation the Celtics were when they traded for DW. They brought in a role player they thought could be a good fit with the young stars. And back then there was a feeling they overpayed. But they didn't, DW became a crucial part of a championship. In hindsight two FRPs don't look like an overpay.
I think Spurs should take the same risk at this point.
It was a pick, and a swap, and that swap is still TBD and 28 months out. I’d be down for a Spurs 2029 pick, and a top 4 protected swap later, but not two firsts unless it is a ready made exact fit player on a reasonable deal like Whites was.

I think the FO is probably in agreement with you. I can’t ever see them bringing on such an asshole, even dumbass who would provoke LeBron before a series started.

Correlation =/= causality. The teams may have done those things in spite of him, instaead of because of him. I mean if he was really that guy,why do teams keep moving on from him?

Does it even matter if he raises the floor of every team he's been on?
Teams move on because he's a low ceiling guy that outlives his usefulness when it's time to take the next step.

Since the subject of acquiring him has been raised, it kind of does. We have enough floor and ceiling raisers now, and just need a few exact fit pieces.

I didn't say Spurs should be after him, I just said that his contributions are underrated because of his antics.

Is Miles Bridges far enough away from his legal issues to be a target?

Doesn’t it feel like Mamu would have had a decent shot at HB’s minutes had he stayed here?

San Antonio Spurs

Bismack Biyombo - $2.3 million

The Spurs could possibly use a roster spot, but they’re also $5.6 million clear of the luxury tax. That means there is no clear reason to waive Biyombo. The veteran center, who is prized for his leadership in a stay-ready role, will stick around.

Lindy Waters III - $2.3 million

Waters is in a similar spot to Biyombo. San Antonio likes his shooting as a deeper bench option. Unless the Spurs feel they need a roster spot, Waters will see his deal guaranteed.

Spursreport put out about interest in Klay Thompson? Not sure if that works and why? Shooting would help and experience, but think we need more of a 3/4 player.

Factoring in the AD flip the Mavs might end up trading prime Luka for Max Christie, Zac Risacher, two or three future firsts of questionable value and a pair of expiring contracts.

Sold prime Luka for about 10 cents on the dollar.

Another vote for swapping the $20M of KO and Sochan + picks into a $20M rebounding + shooting 4. Seems like the obvious upgrade.

If that fails at trade deadline, pray for a good 1st this year (and/or trade up) and draft the next PF version of CB. Or do both and get some good 4s in here. Haven’t been following college kids yet.

Agreed that Vassell isn’t just another 3pt specialist for us. He’s a scorer who can push defenses around when we come out flat or uninspired. If he can sustain this level (and dare I say slowly improve) over the remainder of his contract, Spurs FO deserve a lot of credit for the work and trust they put in him. Big If though.

Who says no?

WAS: Young
SAS: Bilal (hurt currently)
ATL: Middleton + Olynk + return 27FRP (top 4 protected)

Also works with Sochan instead of KO but I think that would change the protections for me (Top 10).

The Spurs say no easily. Bilal has been a bust up to this point. He's wing equivalent of Sochan.

I think it's early to label him a bust, but certainly lost a lot of his value and his rookie contract is running out. Definitely worth a look at the right price IMO but that's a far cry from a high variance pick.
