Game Thread Spurs @ Pacers (Mon 10/13/25) [6:00PM CDT]

Never said “you don't care if he become better in Austin”. That’s a misinterpretation of what I posted. My point was that it’s no guarantee he makes those strides. You want to apply optimism to what will happen with Carter’s growth, go ahead. I’m taking a wait-and-see approach. That’s all.
"Saying that he’ll learn to become a better player in Austin means nothing to me" sounds pretty much identical to that. Don't care = means nothing.
But fair enough. I just don't understand the point of hard pessimism. I expect the worst and hope for the best. There are no guarantees, ever. CB was absolutely drafted as a project, not a guarantee.
I'm waiting and seeing as well, I've just been pleasantly surprised, I didn't expect him to be this physically mature. On a team with only HB, Oly, Sochan that physical maturity is enough for me to be optimistic about. '
To each there own

Just because there’s a roster gap doesn’t mean the least ready player becomes the answer. A void isn’t proof of readiness. You fix that through roster changes or external additions, not by projecting best case outcomes onto someone raw. Banking on Carter’s rapid progression or assuming stagnation elsewhere isn’t a plan. If the gap matters, address it through acquisition, not wishful internal promotion.
We're Spurs fans, internal promotion is what we do.
It's hard to find good 3-D wings without overpaying. I dount Wright would go for a stopgap solution and I doubt he'd spend a FRP on a 4th/5th option.
I'm not saying Bryant should get 30mpg, but if our PF issues persist, 5 to 10mpg in final months of the season is realistic.

Pacers have no Haliburton of course but also lost Myles Turner this offseason

6) i dont know whats gotten into Keldon and Julian but i like it
Underrated development this pre-season. Champ looks like a starting 3 and Keldon looks like a legit energy bench scorer, both of which we desperately needed.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, especially team lacking flow and identity. But think about what your saying.
Spurs had no consistent starting 5 in Vic's rookie yr? Of course, it was a team that was built to tank hard that happened to luck into Wemby. Outside of him, Vassell was the only guy rostered that looked anything like a real NBA caliber starting talent. Sochan was forced to start, ditto Tre and Collins and Champ. Shit even Branham. Keldon fooled people based on volume as a tank commander.
Yr two? Added CP3 and Barnes as starters, added rookie Castle, coach strokes out, still started Sochan out of necessity, traded for Fox to be the Robin you want. Robin gets hurt, Vic has fluke health issue, interim coach still takes us from 22 wins to 34 missing Wemby and Fox 1/2 the season.

I don't think its a stretch at all to assume a healthy Vic carries us to 44+ wins and finishes Top5 MVP.
+1

Champs D is kinda meh but it’s not like Barnes and Vassell are clamping anybody anyway

But champ going from the 37% he’s been to a 40+ guy would make a huge difference

With Fox and Olyneck back, don't see how Sochan carves out a role, we too deep

By eating HB's minutes. HB has not been good this pre-season... (Although HB may just be being lazy in the pre-season, like last year...)

People are actually hating on CB? The fuck? I thought he played alright.

The whole team played well tbh.

Harper looks pretty smooth out there.

I think the only player who looked bad was Barnes.

Gonna be hard for Victor in the post if Jeremy's man can just double team him constantly. And Vic's probably gonna need a year to figure out the aggressive double teams. Still think he can eventually be as good a passer out of the double as Tim was though.

Vic’s turnovers are getting annoying. Sometimes he tries to be too cute, and then other times he gets way too loose with his handle trying to drive to the hoop, which is totally unnecessary. A dribble or two, gather, and couple of ridiculously long strides are enough for him to get to the rim from the three point line.

I agree, but also kind of feel like it's just one of those things we have to accept from him. lol

I really don't see the coaching staff telling him anything about it at this point.

He played fine. But he probably won't be the opening day starter. "Hating" lol

If he does his cutesy shit in a RS game I'll yell about it. Until then, I trust him to use the preseason to gauge what works and what doesn't.

He always does that even in regular season. He’s a “wanna be KD”. The only improvement from victor’s game is he doesnt take too many 3’s, logo 3’s and step back fadeaway 3’s anymore which is good.

Hopefully Wemby's conditioning carries through to the regular season. Looked a lot better in that dept tbh.

Dylan Harper is gonna be a superstar IMO.

Not on the spurs with fox. I have feeling he will end up on a different team and become a superstar like harden.

Champ on absolute fire this pre-season jesus.
I’m not buying it. Last year on ST I remember watching him in the preseason and making a comment that he might be in running for most improved haha. Don’t expect much when the lights turn bright..

Harper is so good that it’s surprising the Vegas O/U on win total hasn’t gone up to 46.

Only worry is that Mitch still prioritise Fox and Castle over D-Harp and he can choose to walk at the end of their rookie contract like Harden
