Game Thread Spurs (62-19)vs Nuggets (53-28) (Sunday 4/12/26) [7:30PM CDT]

The Lakers tanking against the Jazz makes zero sense to me tbh.

They could have just tanked last night which was a b2b and then won tomorrow against Utah. Instead 41yo Bron went full tilt and played pretty much everybody. They're going for the 3rd seed tbh.

Spurs should not play wemby if they only play him 20minutes. That will mess up his 25ppg average for the season.

Doesn’t bode well for Emmanuel Miller that he won’t even get run in this game @OK Computer
Call it cope but I just don’t think we’re a team that uses regular season games for our two ways. Not like we used to in the old days, at least. I think MATFO is so serious about winning in the playoffs that they want to make sure that our third stringers will be ready and give them burn instead.

Total nightmare. Still hate Grant Hill even though it was not dirty. SA was #1 seed 61-21 and that end of reg season Suns game was meaningless for standings iirc. Everyone fluffs the #8 upsetting #1 stat but never caveat with the Manu injury. Was almost worth it for robo arm Ginobili memes

I also feel like the team was really featuring and leaning on Manu for offense that season. Then to lose him in the last game of the season, just brutal.

Braun, Cam, AG, and Murray listed as OUT
Jokic listed as questionable

edit: but the real news here is Spencer Jones listed as OUT. That's game over for Denver. /s

There was one game in that series where Manu staves off elimination. The offense was built around Manu. This was also the series where Bonner and McDyess get featured more than Splitter and Manu does more in one game with a broken arm than RJ HWSNBN Dicky Jefferson did healthy all series.

Grizz have the spurs number that year. Even without ginobili injury spurs still going to lose o that series. Spurs fans just use that manu injury as an excuse.

If 25 year old rookie with 8 years professional experience Tiago Splitter was given an opportunity during the regular season to establish himself then the Spurs would have likely beaten the Grizz.

I agree it was a bad matchup, but only because Pop helped make it a bad matchup.

It was also the year that duncan was heavily load managed in the regular season playing only 28mpg. When the playoff start he was out of shape/condition because of load management. Zbo bullied the hell out of duncan that series. Also bonner playing big minutes in the playoffs and was part of the rotaton.

Devin has right rib cage soreness compared to Wemby‘s left? What is it fucking contagious?
How many days do they have to rest with the play-in games? Will do several guys a lot of good. As for Lakers tanking tanking tomorrow...that's ridiculous. Why would they be dying to play the NBA champs in the second round...if they make it that far.

18th or 19th would be the first game.

Wouldn't we put in some effort to try to stay away from Denver in the 2nd Round?

And wouldn't Denver do the same to try to stay away from OKC in the 2nd Round?

(And both teams will be off for a week after the game, so rest shouldn't be a factor.)
I think Denver would prefer dropping to the 4 seed to avoid Minnesota in the first, hence why they rested everyone last night.

He actually only needs 15. I say we play Wemby and just have him match Jokić‘s minutes. even if we rest castle and one or two other guys, the rest of our team should smash the remains of Denver‘s roster.
Do you get two 15s or only one? Because Jokic had a 19 minute game already this season.

So Nuggets are that much spooked by the Wolves match-up? I think it is true that they are more dangerous than the Rockets but I didn't expect Nuggets to come off like they are desperately trying to duck them.
I think it's more a case of Denver having an insanely tough road to the Finals from the 3 seed as they'd have to beat Minnesota then the Spurs then OKC most likely. No one wants to play a title contender every single round. I can't think of a team other than the 95 Rockets to successfully navigate such a difficult road and win.
