Game Thread Spurs (62-19)vs Nuggets (53-28) (Sunday 4/12/26) [7:30PM CDT]

How many days do they have to rest with the play-in games? Will do several guys a lot of good. As for Lakers tanking tanking tomorrow...that's ridiculous. Why would they be dying to play the NBA champs in the second round...if they make it that far.
They may very well view OKC and SAS as similarly impossible challenges in Round 2, so their only concern is winning as many games as possible (let’s not forget… more games = more revenue) and hope they can make it to Round 2 where maybe Luka will come back and deliver some magic for them.

But it’s not like avoiding OKC is going to give them anything better in Round 2, since we own them just as hard after the first game when the refs inserted themselves

Spurs should play to win.

It’s not about avoiding Denver, it’s taking advantage of the opportunity to not have to play both Denver and OKC back-to-back.

If they have to play both, it is what it is. They’re capable of pulling it off, but it’s advantageous to not have to - and they’re not tanking or doing anything unethical to do so.

If Wemby also sits I think they lose without Kornet unless Jokic does sit out. He'll put up 32/28/14 in 20 minutes against Plumdog/Biyombo/Okynk tbh.
Didn't Mitch play Carter against Jokic some in the last game? Might be his counter with a surprise start.

CB in spurts can guard Jokic but off the bat he'll get destroyed. That said, it's not like Jokic is gonna be playing any defense either. Might go like the Mavs game the other night.

I dont think we need Wemby to win this game tbh. And Im not willing to risk Steph as well with how banged up he’s been.

Let Fox go for 60 pts shooting 20 3fga tbh

This is the most interesting last game of a RS in recent memory. What's at stake:

-Determining the 3 seed (potential playoff opponent)
-Going for 63 wins, which would tie the second most in franchise history
-The Barnes thing (8 players averaging 10ppg)
-Jokic becoming eligible for awards

Anything else?

It’s not bout avoiding Denver for me. I think Minnesota will be just as difficult a series. It’s about putting Denver in OKCs side of the bracket so the road to the WCF will be tougher for them. I would rather them play Denver in a long tough series than Houston in an easier shorter series

This 100% tbh.

Great post. This is a very valid reason I can go with/agree with. I wasn't looking to duck or tank to get specific matchups to avoid anyone that the Spurs play, but this reason is a very legit one when looking at a bigger picture. Don't want OKC have a really easy path.

I suspect Denver will play hard from start, but eventually will rest and insert their bench by 2nd half as long as the Spurs can bury them. Spurs will try to run over them at the first half Both teams will eventually finish off with their respective bench.

If DEN does get over on the OKC side of the bracket… I hope DEN beats OKC, not because I’m afraid of OKC but because Wemby v Jokic is absolute cinema that the world needs right now (and I think we can also win).

SA vs OKC can be equally absolutely cinema as well.

We might be seeing a whole new level of "playoffs Wemby" going against "NBA Champion" Chet for 7 games :st-lol:

Man if DEN stays on our side of the bracket,
OKC may have one of the easiest paths to the WCF in recent memory. Houston is ASS and even when they were playing well the Lakers were overrated as hell. Now they’re injured.

It is what it is.

Jokic playing for 20 mins for his 65th game, but the rest of the starters are resting. Spurs shouldn’t be cute but bury them early to rest the starters in the 2nd half. Spurs by 25 pts. GSG!
