Game Thread Spurs (62-19) vs Nuggets (53-28) (Sunday 4/12/26) [7:30PM CDT]

Denver would have been responsible for our only 3 losses since March 1st. I'm supposed to believe that's a nothingburger? i can't blame their fans and players who feel supremely confident they are going to beat us in the playoffs. The chorus is getting louder on that, tbh

Well I’m not gonna argue against that lol we had a lot of dumb losses, including a very winnable one against Denver few games ago that wouldn’t prevented all that.

But now we have one more really good shot at getting the ideal scenario and we should be doing all we can to make it happen tbh

With Wemby banged up, this was always going to be the deal tonight. From a matchup standpoint, not having him and Kornett just kills us.
Jokic is the only starter on the other side. Struggling at rebounding when Jokic is in, sure, but not being able to take advantage on the offensive side with Castle, Fox and Harper is a problem.

Castle and Champ are a combined 0/8 for 2 pts. That needs to change drastically in the 2nd Half tbh. Problem is both of those guys' offense relies so much on Wemby's gravity.

It would be two victories without Wemby, though. The last one Wemby played we blew it. We were winning the whole game until the last two minutes.

Mitch should be pretty hoarse after this halftime session. Fire up the Gutless Worms speech. Kind of a slap in the face on Spurs fan appreciation night. Would love to see us scrap our way back into this, but, without any injuries, of course.

That 3rd string center/trad PF is our Achilles heel, for sure.

This place is going to lose its mind when we have our first major deficit of the playoffs. :st-lol:

If the Spurs cared about winning this game, they woudln't have sat out their two primary bigs. They wouldn't pioritize Barnes getting 17. They wouldn't be chucking 3s with virtually no real offense. They woudln't be running long stretches with no one taller than 6-8.

They clearly don't care.

To be clear, I 100% agree the easier path is to have Jokic and OKC match up in the 2nd round. Clearly that's true. That doesn't mean its a huge difference either way. Its a marginal change regardless, IMO. And I think models will show that as well. If you don't believe ME, tell me how much the Spurs championship odds move at the sportsbooks after this game. They won't change much if at all. If they do, then you were right. If they do not, then maybe realize you guys are just doing the same meltdown you have done EVERY TIME the Spurs are losing a game.

Castle carries himself like he thinks he’s going to be a superstar. Well, that’s never happening if his entire game revolves around Victor being on the court.

Jokic got his 15 mins, so I’m expecting him to drop off the map either at the start of the 3rd or sometime shortly after it. Gotta go for the jugular at that point

Its a nothingburger. Vic being 1-5 against Joker and giving up 40+ in 5 of those is a nothing. We should be happy to have the hardest road possible in our very first playoffs.
If you want anything less than the toughest possible road, you're a bitch. If you want your opponents to have a tough hard over an easy road, you're a bitch.
Strategy is for bitches. I learned that from the Wire, better to get shot dead defending Freemont than make just as much money a block down.

You think OKC is going to care about not having to beat both the Nuggets and the Spurs?
Guarantee you they don't want the Nuggets in the 2nd round if they could get Houston or LAL instead. Better to have your best enemies fight each other first before you have to fight them.

Hopefully with Jokic out in the second half, we can win this game and bring back people's hopes about beating them in the playoffs. Make or break game!

Looks like they took that first half to heart. Finally boxing out and bringing the intensity.

And have the second seed. Try to follow along.
you think that they have not tried to get the 1st. They have the second best record behind the defending champion with a crazy improvement compared to last year. Saying that they didn't try to get the 1st seed is ludicrous.
