Game Thread Spurs (59-19) vs. 76ers (43-35) (Mon 04/06/2026) [7:00 PM]

So it was after he came back from the first locker room? Sorry I just have the game on the background as Im in the office tbh. Couldnt watch closely
Yeah everything upper body happened on that play.

When he grabbed his quad it looked like it bumped into somebody didn’t look concerning.

Fuck. I hoped it happened the first time and they brought him back to play 15 min which would have meant it wasnt that bad.

Can anyone explain to me why we start shooting like shit in the moment of truth of the season? smh

If Google is right that Wemby will be out 2-6 weeks, then even in the best case scenario of 2 weeks, he's not going to be eligible for awards unless the Spurs apply for an exemption (like the Lakers did with Luka).

I'm no expert on this but I think Wemby gets a 15 minute game and that's why he came back in to hit 15 mins tonight. 20 mins to go. I saw it listed as left rib contusion. That shit hurts. No way Wemby needs to miss out on DPOY over 20 mins.

The most important thing is that he plays in the playoffs and we need to relax. He’s going to be fine.

If it’s truly a rib bruise it’s a pain tolerance thing. A fracture is doubtful it isn’t a football collision and he’s young….im just hoping they actually got imaging and didn’t just physical exam it

They are probably just labelling it as a 'rib contusion' until an MRI is done to determine the damage. Fractured ribs happen pretty regularly in the NBA. Zubac was ruled out for the season with one in March (though whether he'd have returned if the Pacers weren't tanking is an unknown).

And here's what happened to Tyler Herro in January:
  • Injury Severity: Initially labeled as a right rib contusion, further evaluation/MRI revealed a "right costochondral injury" to the ribs, which can be highly painful and often requires, rather than surgery, time to heal based on pain tolerance.
  • Cause: Herro later confirmed in February that he sustained three fractured ribs, or a "buckle rib fracture" from a Jan 10th game against the Pacers, though he played for three subsequent games with pain medication before being ruled out.
  • Recovery and Return: Herro missed 15 games. He returned to full practice after the 2026 All-Star break (Feb 19) and was cleared for action, often wearing an NFL-style "flak jacket" to protect the area.

Something similar happened to Jarrett Allen in the 2024 playoffs:
  • Cause: A hard elbow from Orlando's Franz Wagner in Game 1 and a subsequent hit in the same spot during Game 4.
  • Severity: Initially termed a contusion, it was revealed to be a fractured/broken rib. The pain made it impossible for him to raise his arms, which is essential for his defensive role.
  • Impact: Allen sat out the final eight games of the 2024 playoffs, including the rest of the first-round series against the Magic and the entire second-round series against the Celtics.
  • Recovery: The injury was severe enough that it caused pain for several weeks after the season ended.

He’s not going to be out 2-6 weeks lol. It’s like when a guy has a bone bruise in the NFL this time it’s on his ribs. It’s not like oylnyks heel bruise where it’s something you walk on.

It’s going to be something he’s gonna be given painkilllers for

Edit—this is all with the understanding that they diagnosed it correctly and it isn’t a fracture.

Google doesnt say he’s out for 2-6 weeks. It says 2-6 weeks is the natural timeline without treatment.

As to what is “treatment” I didnt read much further

"Contusion" doesn't tell us anything. That's just what they call any injury when an impact happens and they haven't diagnosed it yet. It could be anything from a slight bruise to a fracture.
