this is one of the clear views of this technique. like, even with the most generous interpretation of where the gather occurs (go frame by frame around 14 second mark), he gathers it just as he puts his right foot down. so lets grant that this is the gather step, and does not count as one of his 2 legal steps. then the left foot comes down (inside the 3pt line). thats step one. then the right foot comes down outside the 3pt line. thats step 2. then the left foot comes down again.

its insane to me that the league has had the chance to see this move over the years and still declares it legal.
