Game Thread Spurs (50-18) @ Kings (18-51) (Tue 3/17/2026) [9:00 PM CDT]

A damn shame we didnt get maxime in the second round. He should of been ours.
Don't ask me for the exact source, but I recall a journalist on twitter saying that Raynaud specifically wanted to go to Sacramento. In the second round players have more leverage, he might have asked other teams for more money/guarantees than he did Sacramento, or asked them to pass on him outright (like VanVleet, Reaves, etc). But I don't think he just flew under the radar all the way to 42 by chance.

i doubt he would of threw a tantrum being drafted by the spurs.Spurs also could of gave him a nba guarantee contract. Some mocks had maxime
going into the first.I doubt he told 29 other nba teams to not draft me in the first round and let me fall to the second round to the kings with
there 42 second pick. Just think spurs didnt think much of him or didnt plan on sigining another rookie and obviously traded there second round
pick before knowing who was gonna fall.

It's not about throwing a tantrum, he's a close friend of Wemby and he's represented by the same agency, if they so much as hinted they'd like him to play elsewhere, Spurs wouldn't force the issue at all. Of course I'm not claiming inside knowledge, simply stating what I've read plus common sense based on similar past situations.

I actually respect the hell out of Raynaud for wanting to carve his own path out in the NBA and not just be Wemby's chess buddy lacky. Going to Sacramento and getting massive minutes and usage probably made him a lot of money.

I actually want to keep pressure on OKC for as long as possible to keep THEM from resting players, especially Shai.
OKC still has the JDub predicament lingering as well. He hasn't looked good this year (by his standards), they will want to get him spun up in time for the playoffs. Unlike some, I do think they are likely still the favorites even with a compromised JDub (assuming Ajay Mitchell is healthy).

Feels good to be good enough to drag our balls across sac upper lip tbh. I remember when games against them was nail biters or we would lose :st-lol:

Willis was one of those guys who was so athletic, and could hold his space so well that he didn't need long arms to rebound. Position and strength. Old school basketball.
I remember some thing on like NBA TV or something where they had a strong man competition where they were benching some ridiculous amount of weight to see who could do it the most times and Kevin Willis and Charles Oakley both did it like 45 times or some crazy shit.
