Game Thread Spurs (5-1) @ Lakers (6-2) (Wed 11/05/25) [9:00PM CDT] on ESPN

i watched an hour and a half behind and caught up to live action with Champagnie getting fouled to potentially tie the game

skipping free throws, timeouts, reviews
good for you …. i woke up too early and only was 30 minutes behind …still felt like i was watching the whole game without skipping breaks :poop:

He only took two threes. His problem other than hanging out 25 feet from the basket was taking a bunch of fadeaways with smalls on him, ridiculous when you're 7'5".

Every time he tried to establish position they called offensive fouls on him. Mostly from Smart or the Japanese named dude that I dont know how to spell flopping.

What is up is we don’t have another player drawing defense. Fox solves a lot of that.
One player, even Fox won't change much what happens when Wemby gets the ball and the decisions he takes.

Fox won't make him ask the ball closer to the rim or won't make him work on a vital go-to move.

He won't change the dumb IQs we have on the rosters, the lack of bigs or the useless coach etc

The issues are a lot deeper than it looks

the TV crew did kinda call smart out on his offensive foul drawing stuff. he plays extremely physical and shoves and fights and the second you put up resistance he goes down

Dylan Harper is the future of this franchise guysss

Calling it here…
Yeah, I’ve had the intrusive thought of Wemby just stopping in his developmental tracks and playing second fiddle to Harper and/or Castle. I hope, hope, hope, it’s just a non drug induced trip…

Castle is not a PG and he has been forced into that role he is a guy that can be a secondary ball handler to get your primary a breather. He should be in the SG role with Fox at the PG with Harper as backup PG but injuries to Fox and Harper has Castle having to be full time PG. I am not sure what you expect but it is not shocking he has more turn overs having to play high minutes as the defacto PG
yeah.... coz... he's such a great shooter, am i right...

Wemby should humble himself a bit for sure. The confidence is fine to an extent but when you’re loling at other teams like Houston because they didn’t land you in the draft and then making comments like “me getting dunked on more than getting blocks won’t happen in this lifetime” and then following it up with frankly this small dick energy, we would be laughing at him if he was on another team. Way too high on himself and he needs to work on his flaws first before talking himself up so much.

I’m not even upset at the loss. I knew even with Reaves out, we would still fall short. But it’s just frustrating seeing our best player get flustered over every obstacle. We really need Fox back, man.

Need Harper and Fox back ASAP. This team continues their infatuation and give significant minutes to players that would be glued to the bench on almost every other team. Is Champagnie even an NBA level player on any other team besides tankers?

Castle a big reason spurs lost.Nothing more annoying then lazy, careless passing from our supposed future pg.
He messed up alot of our momentum.Thats not what a pg is supposed to do.
Actually he and Champ and Vassell.. LIndy Waters I wont fault.. really missing Harper

On the plus side, Sochan played good defense, scored, and his shot looked better than the clusterf@ck of last year. Let's take a few hours to pause from crapping on Sochan until the Rockets game starts. :st-tongue:
I'd be a bit more high on his return game if he wasn't so atrocious on the boards

If Harper can elevate his game to superstar status I have absolutely no problem with Vic just anchoring the D and contributing 12 to 15 points a night being a floor spacer and a lob threat.
I'm this close to giving up on him being the prospect with GOAT potential that we all hyped him to be.

The more castle plays the more you see his deficiencies. Once Wemby kicks it back out to him out of the post instead of passing it back he just goes full tard turns it over or tries to draw a foul

No the sad part is that he has always been vocal about WANTING to be a point guard though. Thats what he has said since being drafted.
I wonder if his agent or any coaches mentioned to him that point guards need to be able to dribble, pass and shoot? Castle can almost kinda do 2 of those but not when pressured. Dude needs to be moved off ball and play a simpler game. Maybe when Fox is medically cleared for training camp next year that'll be the plan.

This team celebrating that 5 game win streak like they won something important was very telling. These dudes think they are a lot better than they are.

Also, someone needs to remove that courtside microphone. Nothing good comes from it. Popovich whines about people being mean to kawhi, and Wemby talks to the fans way too much. Let your play do the talking, dude.
Can we all agree that Wemby has this bad habit of talking too much about "wanting it more than anyone else", which put so much unnessary pressure on him to walk that talk..

Calling the most fouls in what, 30 years, needs to be examined. Harden’s been out of his prime for 7 years now, there’s no excuse for these refs to be just blowing their whistles over nothing
This game reminded me why I started hating watching the NBA 20+ years ago. Just shit awful officiating. I havent watched a single second of a non Spurs NBA game since game 6 of the 2002 WCF. The single most rigged sporting event I've ever seen, including boxing and MMA fights that were rigged or thrown.

tbh I rather Wemby return back to last year jacking 8.8 3s per game.

That version is still better than the current version
That means you give up on wemby having a game in the paint and his offens only revolve on 3pt shooting. Lmao

Kornet is the x-factor. The moment Wemby stepped out. The opponent goes to the rim. Also playing with Wemby, Kornet is a good roll to the basket player and good target for Wemby when double teamed

This is on coaching and guard play.

Wemby didn't have a great night but you could also tell he was getting frustrated that he wasnt getting the ball. There were several times he was open on rolls or was in the post with someone half his size on him and rather than pass him the ball they skipped the pass to 3 point shooters.

Not sure if thats design by Mitch or the guards/wings not knowing how to make an entry pass.

Ive said it a ton in this thread but Vassell is the absolute worst offender. He never looks for wemby unless wemby goes out to the 3 point line and asks for the ball.

It's awful offense with 0 bbiq
