Game Thread Spurs (5-1) @ Lakers (6-2) (Wed 11/05/25) [9:00PM CDT] on ESPN

If I were the Lakers I wouldn’t be too proud of this win. Spurs played like absolute shit and should have lost by 20
lakers were playin without Reaves and LeBron. on a day where Luka wasnt hitting his shots, those guys are sorely missed. not that the spurs werent shorthanded.

but lakers have to feel good about their defense

december 18th. spurs lose against washington and fall to 5-19.

mitch post-game: "yeah dylan, de'aaron and luke are still recovering from ouchies but they're trending in the right direction. we won't let results speed up the return process though."

This team celebrating that 5 game win streak like they won something important was very telling. These dudes think they are a lot better than they are.

Also, someone needs to remove that courtside microphone. Nothing good comes from it. Popovich whines about people being mean to kawhi, and Wemby talks to the fans way too much. Let your play do the talking, dude.

Lots of overreactions tbh. I mean, it was ugly AF and I think the execution in the last two minutes was piss poor.. Vic probably had the worst back to back of his career. We should be getting fox back here shortly and I think he will solve a lot of our issues. but no doubt Victor’s gonna have to fucking figure this small dude guarding him shit.

i watched an hour and a half behind and caught up to live action with Champagnie getting fouled to potentially tie the game

skipping free throws, timeouts, reviews
tbh I just skipped watching the last two FT knowing he was gonna blow one but left the sound on to confirm

Calling the most fouls in what, 30 years, needs to be examined. Harden’s been out of his prime for 7 years now, there’s no excuse for these refs to be just blowing their whistles over nothing

ill be frank, i couldnt watch much of the first half... but i dont understand why people here are upset with Castle. he and barnes were the only ones who were consistently giving the lakers issues

yeah Castle had 6 TOs but this is what happens when somebody who is not a true point is thrust into those duties. its going to be sloppy. his shot wasnt falling but he willed his way to the line and defended his ass off
This. Held Luka to 33% shooting and then was tasked with being the primary ball handler and point of attack. He’s just not that guy. Had Fox been the point of attack and ball handler this game would have looked much different and those 6 turnovers likely would’ve been 2-3. Plus Wemby wouldn’t have been overwhelmed.

He was making Point Sochan level mistakes
dont care honestly. offense was a slog with or without him and he at least put his head down and got us points in the 3rd when we took our biggest lead. and he defended his ass off all game. he was very clearly giving Luka fits

Wemby is looking so uninspired, he is basically only giving us a defensive contribution when he hangs out on the perimeter. A glorified Rudy Gobert, nah Ibaka, because he loves threes.

Our defense on Luka was terrific tbh, best part of the night.

Lakers defense was fine after half the team fouled out but we honestly just shot ourselves in the foot with dumb ass turnovers and terrible decisions. I'd say 75% of our mistakes were unforced.

Castle is not a PG and he has been forced into that role he is a guy that can be a secondary ball handler to get your primary a breather. He should be in the SG role with Fox at the PG with Harper as backup PG but injuries to Fox and Harper has Castle having to be full time PG. I am not sure what you expect but it is not shocking he has more turn overs having to play high minutes as the defacto PG
No the sad part is that he has always been vocal about WANTING to be a point guard though. Thats what he has said since being drafted.

Still in shock over how BAD we have looked, with 2 days of rest...

Castle a big reason spurs lost.Nothing more annoying then lazy, careless passing from our supposed future pg.
He messed up alot of our momentum.Thats not what a pg is supposed to do.

On the plus side, Sochan played good defense, scored, and his shot looked better than the clusterf@ck of last year. Let's take a few hours to pause from crapping on Sochan until the Rockets game starts. :st-tongue:

He only took two threes. His problem other than hanging out 25 feet from the basket was taking a bunch of fadeaways with smalls on him, ridiculous when you're 7'5".

Member that one year when Wemby obliterated the Mavs big ol front court? When was that, 97, 98?

Why is Wemby refusing to post up? the Lakers have zero inside presence yet Wemby hanging out at 3 point line like prime Shaq is down low.
They weren't getting him the ball when he did post. Castle is shit as a PG. He's a SF who can handle the ball off the catch, penetrate, finish at the rim, and is a plus defender on positions 1 - 3.

I dont know what is wrong with Fox, but this game was so damn ugly because McLauglin is a D league talent and no other guard on the floor tonight can adequately get the team into their offense. That caused Castle and Wembanyama to press and make a lot of stupid mistakes. Until 1 of Fox or Harper gets back this is going to be an ugly ass team on offense.

He looks it. Really thought he was gonna push through that shit this year, starting to think he never will.
Same. 7'5 body will never be stamina champion Notice how he fizzled out right after he played 40 minutes against the heat..Seems like that game took out his legs or whatever
