Game Thread Spurs (5-0) @ Suns (2-4) (Sun 11/02/25) [7:00PM CDT]

With fox’s hamstring, if you asked a doctor how long it should be rested they would say “as long as possible” so they’re just seeing a bad team and gambling that the skeleton crew can take care of business

Kornet is a huge doughy guy who is in no way light on his feet. Body made for 3rd string. So we’re going to have to endure this for 3-4 years

I don’t know why they’re being cute with Jeremy though. This would be a good game to sprinkle him in.

He should not be starting. He’s both a weak rebounder and defender. If he’s kept in a Patty towel waving locker room guy, fine.
Of course he shouldn't, but he is by default our "least bad" solution for now. I'm talking as a core/vet member, he's very reliable if not given too much PT

We urgently need size and shooting at the wing and frontcourt

My guess is PATFO is aware of the "defiance" of a lot of fans and observers regarding Sochan and bringing only him back would put too many eyes on his production.

They'll bring back him with Fox who'll draw most of the attention

You know what? I almost forgot this feeling, counting down hours until the tip-off.
I know we've been spoiled as a fanbase, but watching all those horrible teams over the past years made me question my sanity.

I still can't fully accept Spurs are legit again and I'm waiting for an implosion to happen. :st-lol:
With ya bud. It's hard to think about the other shoe to drop at any moment, but I'm choosing to fully enjoy this while we can.

Things I'm thinking about ahead of today's game:
  • Maluach has only played "real" minutes (meaning regular rotation non-garbage time) in one game so far... this might be a candidate for another. Will be interesting to get a look at him against an elite opposing center.
  • A favorite of this group, Rasheer Fleming, is also not getting any run in Phoenix so far... with Brooks out, does that open a door?
  • Mark Williams has been playing well... he and Wemby have actually never faced off before.
  • Keldon does well against Phoenix. He obviously had that one steal and game winner on KD, but in the 22-23 season when Keldon was our #1 scoring option, Keldon scored 27 and 34 against PHX in the only two games he played. The next season (Wemby's rookie year) he had 27 in the first game against them on Oct 31. I've got an eye out on @OK Computer's man
  • I have a feeling we're gonna see a nice game from Black Falcon...
  • I want to see Steph on DBook all game.
  • I'm always afraid of some bullshit like Grayson Allen going for a career high on us... let's not have that, k?
Steph should take this game personal. It would be a real statement to hold Book in check.

Why we still talking about a guy who's already been established as out
Neither Steph or Book are out today, so I'm not sure wtf you are talking about.

Yeah, my wife was saying this morning 'are they paying this afternoon!' She can't wait...me too!

Would be catastrophic if Kornet turns out to be more injury prone than anyone suspected. I'm starting to get worried.
He‘s not injury prone. The guy rolled his ankle, said it‘s nothing and the Spurs are acting like he tore his ACL. And then they don’t play those guys when they are fully healthy because „conditioning. Fox, Olynyk and Sochan are not injured at all. They just ramping up stamina, which is why I don’t understand why they just let them play on a minute restriction.

We gotta take the Suns seriously. Sure, given the state of both teams, we're favorite, but if we take them lightly we're going to lose this game. If we're serious we can make this game easy, but we should never leave our guard down. Young teams tend to make this mistake and it often comes back to bite them. We don't want to be like that. We're on a mission.

I can definitely see the Spurs go on a slide if they lose this game. It would suck to go 5-0 and then go 5-3 after the Rockets game. Maybe my expectations are too high after watching countless Youtube videos saying that the Spurs are a "problem".

Suns starters in past two games were Booker, Dunn, Grayson Allen, O'Neale and Mark Williams.
Their bench was Collin Gillespie, Nigel Hayes-Davis, Oso Ighodaro, Nick Richards and Isaiah Livers.

We need to run that bunch off the floor before the half.

Agreed, we can't be having Wemby play another ~40 mins, BB is just dead weight as a reserve big, I say clean em up by half and keep the pressure on with midget ball after. Congrats Carter Bryant you're the backup center.

Spurs #1 in Fast Break Points to start the season. Phoenix #25 at giving up Fast Break Points…

If it hadn't already been used of Durant the nickname "Slim Reaper" would fit Wemby perfectly. Especially with his defense just killing shots at the rim
Can't believe KD hated such a cool nickname. Bro wanted to be called "The Servant" instead. What a waste of bomb ass name.
