Austin State School for the Deaf is (was) just across Town Lake and west of South Congress. Glad to see Carter and Spurs acknowledging and recognizing their presence.

Texas School for the Blind is (was) just west of UT Intramural fields around where Lamar and Guadalupe fork. Was pleasantly surprised to find that it backs up to HEB Central Market's outside eating area/playground. One of my cousins lived in the dorms there before his family moved to Austin. Have a vivid but unsubstantiated memory of seeing Barbara Jordan speak there for a graduation a few decades ago.
