Damn I love that pic of the dog and kid.

I still think we should be blowing out some teams, and especially not keep fucking blowing leads. But it is what it is tbh, as long as we win I guess.

Season is long and I just wanna get to the playoffs.
We may start blowing teams out in the final month of the season if we are healthy. This team needs to stop feeling themselves and playing down to the competition. That’s what’s killing them.

The homer in me thinks we should be blowing everyone out lol I've said that I think our peak is higher than any other team in the league

I want to see us in the playoffs. At the same time, I think Wemby might blow his load in the first series. Ehhh time will tell

It will be another close one --- how is this mediocre team still in 2nd place?

Jokic injury, rockets can't shoot either, Timberwolves struggles first half of the season, Lakers losing reaves for a third of the season etc..

I still wouldn't be shocked to see us go out in round 1, but we are still ahead of schedule

curious to see how the Mavs will guard us in this game. They weren't able to stop any flare screen or inverted pick & roll sets. We carved them up with that.

Kidd tried to put their centers on Castle and Harper, but that didn't work either, because they are not Amen Thompson. Both got to the rim regardless or made jumpshots.

I'm curious to see how we will adjust to flagg. We scraped by a hospital mavs team but hoping at home we will play even better tonight

The inconsistency is maddening but this Spurs team is one with some great strengths and some telling weaknesses. Having Wemby & Kornet at centre and Castle/Harper/ Fox as guards has been a great boost to the team in defense and playmaking. But Wemby's lack of a post game/ the guards lacking 3 pt shooting and the up and down nature of the role players has meant that the Spurs struggle to dominate 48 minutes of the game. I dont expect the Spurs to lose in the first round of the playoffs as most of you think though. They will make a lot of noise but will also disappoint at times.

I think Mitch should try putting CB on Flagg...Castle is a great defender but he is still undersized against Flagg

Matching up with big forwards is our weakness, but it's compensated by having elite rim protection. As in Castle can bother them enough on the perimeter and disrupt their pull up game. If they get into the paint, we have Wemby and Kornet.
The issue with guarding Flagg is that his floater game already looks elite, which is unusual for players of his size. Those big wings usually just power their way to the rim when they're already in the paint.

Dear Narcissistic Vindictive Territorial humorless Commenters,

Wemby is more like Jordan than anyone since Kobe. While Kobe was basically the Talented Mr. Ripley version of Jordan—psychopathic levels of mimicry but almost as effective- It’ was like a psychopath imitating a psychopath. Wemby delivers his own natural, eclectic take on Jordan’s fire. Like Jordan, Wemby still has to grow into the team leader role Jordan mastered, and with a coach like Mitch, he has to.

Let’s be real, Pop became the true leader of the Spurs during the Duncan era because Tim wasn’t the vocal, take-charge type. Anyone who knows the team recognizes Pop’s four distinct phases: the assistant coach under a master, the “Littlefinger” chaos-as-a-ladder era, the Duncan-era clear head of the snake phase, and the Professor Pop/mad king era where he won’t give up the throne.

Looking at the Spurs right after the 2025 draft, the turnaround seemed inevitable based on talent alone. Wemby, Castle, and Harper looked ready to spark a run reminiscent of David Robinson’s rookie surge and the Twin Towers era with Duncan. But between the obsession with minutiae, stats, and the personal biases of those enamored with their own deep basketball knowledge, few actually believed it would happen.

Maye Mitch is the Kind of bland Coach Wemby Needs for this to be his team. Maybe Mitch is some milk toast simulator coach version of Doug Collins, they Guy before the guy who takes all the Credit for winning.

Food For thought Commentors

Don't let me keep you from impressing yourselves and one another.

PS. We’ve all seen this kind of league collusion, where a player is held back by an institutional disregard for the rules. Think back to the Jordan Rules—it wasn’t just a strategic trapping or double-teaming in the post, it was one team assaulting a single player and being allowed to get away with it. Now it feels like the whole league is allowed to push Wemby around like a tackling sled in the NFL or sandwich him under the basket during an inbounds pass. It’s just more proof that Wemby is more like Jordan than anyone before, with his own “Wemby Rules,” essentially Jordan Rules 2.0, while online people keep putting out content like “so-and-so figured out how to guard Wemby.”

Yeah Right, "Figured out how to get away with assault"

Hopefully Mitch or Sweeny will figure out an easy solve for this before the NEXT guy who takes credit comes in an implement this element. Mitch seems to focus on his own blah blah blah offense than incorporating this.
